Customer Review: Very cute and durable, but not an exact replica

I bought this backpack for my 4 year old son for Christmas. I waited until now to see if my son would like it a few months after the "thrill" of Christmas was gone. Three months later, he still loves this backpack, maybe more than he did when he first received the gift.
The backpack has two straps instead of the 1 strap as seen in the Diego cartoons. This is fine because little children really do need two straps to hold a secure backpack. Plus, having a 1 strap backpack that goes over the head could be dangerous for 2-4 year olds. My son doesn't mind have a two strap backpack because he can wear it on his back and put it on himself without my help.
The backpack is durable, with adjustable straps. It has a soft, plush covering with a flap that has a velcro closure. After months of play, there is no fraying along the edges of the bottom of the backpack (this has happened with my son's other backpacks), the straps, and the velcro closure hasn't lost its stick. My son often stuffs the backpack overfull with plastic or wooden blocks or stuffed animals and carries it in the car or around the house and nothing falls out or rips the seams.
I would recommend buying the backpack, but not taking it outdoors to the park or rolling around in the dirt because it looks hard to clean. Although it says it is machine washable, I think it would probably gunk up in the washing machine because of the outer covering. But for make believe play, it definitely is worth the price.
