I am only posting this because I hate to see people mislead. Some people may read some but not all of these reviews and make the wrong buying decision based on them. If you want a much better quality magnetic sphere toy to get. Get Zen Magnets at [...] You get a set of 216 spheres with 6 spares for $24.74 plus FREE shipping. I can attest to the fact that they DO NOT chip at least not in the 6 months or so I've had my Mandala Set (1,728 magnets plus 8 spares) in a nice wooden presentation/storage box. They have a couple different size sets to choose from. Look around as there are discount codes on the internet that reduce the price. They are plenty strong and there are NO problems what so ever making shapes. I think people that say that are just not familiar with how these magnets are designed and some of their characteristics. There are certain shapes like triangles and pyramids that, depending on how you construct them can be very challenging to put together. People need to understand that while these spheres have a north and south pole like most magnets when you put them together those poles are also being reacted on by other poles from adjacent magnets which can cause them to repel each other. This is not a strength issue it's an orientation issue. Sometimes, you just have to flip the piece you are working on 180 degrees and it will snap right into place. Other times they just don't like to stick in certain shapes but there are usually ways around this. The strength of Zen magnets are very good. I've seen Youtube videos where people claim a certain brand can't make a certain shape and I've been able to make every one with the Zen magnets. It's more about understanding how they work not the strength. I've never heard of ANY zen magnet owner claiming there magnets chip. One of the the things about Zen magnets is they only come in one color (coating) this is by design. Zen magnets company will not sell different colors (coatings) because they DO wear off and chip over time. They haven't found a decent coating besides the one color they use that meets their high standards. I may sound like a commercial for Zen Magnets but I assure you I am in no way affiliated with the company. I am simply a very satisfied customer. You can buy cheaper magnets but you won't find better quality ones. As far as I'm concerned they are all over priced for what you get but do yourself a favor and shop around and some research before you decide on a brand and don't just go on price or you will disappointed.
