So...my son brought this home about a month ago and i was intrigued. Its a step up from those rubber half balls you turn inside out and set them on the floor and they "pop" up. This is way better....and actually quite impressive.
I read over and over that they don't work. Well, I have shown about a dozen people how to do it correctly. As in most cases, if you don't execute properly, it doesn't work! I have not come across a single one that I could not get to work within a few moments. I will acknowledge that turning it inside out could be challenging for very young children, but my 5 year old can do it with ease..
The secrets!
1. Do NOT over extend it when you turn it inside out. Just to the point where it holds its shape. The more you use it, the better it gets and the easier it is to find this "sweet spot"
2. Spin and drop in a relaxed fashion - the key is that it hits flat. A lot of people have the (incorrect) belief that they need to drop it from a higher point or they need a downward force. Both of these are wrong - and actually work against you. The toy does NOT bounce. It uses the energy of righting itself to its original form to pop. If you drop it 2 feet off the ground, it will pops high (if not higher) than a drop from over 6 feet. Also, do not throw it down. Its a soft spin and drop - like you want it to float down.
3. If it sticks, work it inside out and back manually a few times. The key is establishing the "sweet spot" of where you bend it to. It should be just to a point where it won't stick and wants to revert back to its original point. Repetition is key. Once you "get it" you will have an over 95% success rate.
That's it. They do work - you just need to be patient and "season" it so that it is ready to work. Straight out of the package, you will struggle, but after 15 minutes of working the rubber, it will work....
