My daughter had it for less than a year, and it's broken. It's making a weird noise, and the eyes keeps opening and closing constantly. Kind of scary. I thought it was the batteries, but when I put brand new batteries in, it still was broken. The doll looks good with clothes on, but when you take it off, the body is kind of ugly. Just finished writing a letter to Zapf about this doll. Our 5 year old received her for Christmas, less than 2 weeks ago, and already we've got two big issues with her. First of all, the legs don't kick anymore no matter what we do; and secondly, her head has developed a split in the seam. I hope that Zapf will send us another one, since this is the MOST important toy in our daughter's life right now. She just loves her and is so upset. When she's working, she's amazing. I did not like this doll because the child likes to touch the face and it gets dirty really fast the make-up on lips and checks rubed off the first day, the eyes dont close that much, the legs dont move much, she just does not do a lot and yes it is a very heavy doll and many other things just ONE BIG DISSAPOINTMENT. I purchased love me chou chou for my 4 y/o for Chritmas and she loves it. I was reading all the reviews and decided to write a review for all those trying to figure out the sleep mode.
The doll can only enter the sleep mode if it is in the "Automatic random-principle play sequence". (See also the instructions for use: 2. Automatic play sequence of the doll with the ran-dom principle.)
In this play sequence, the child mothering the doll must discover, among other things, why Love me CHOU CHOU is crying. The doll can then be comforted again either with the bottle, the dummy or the little bear security blanket.
Love me CHOU CHOU is only able to enter the sleep mode if it reacts to the little bear security blanket. If the child mothering the doll places the head of the little bear on the blanket on the appliqué of the playsuit, Love me CHOU CHOU begins to laugh with delight. The random principle means that it is possible that Love me CHOU CHOU may become tired and yawn. This is where the sleep mode begins. The dummy must now be pushed firmly into the mouth until a sucking noise can be heard. Love me CHOU CHOU then falls asleep.
Basically the doll only goes to sleep if you are playing her and trying to figure out what she needs. When she starts crying rub the teddy blanket on her romper if she yawns stick her pacifier in her mouth. She will suck a couple of times and then fall asleep.
I do agree the the material her head is made out is kind of bad since it collects so much dirt, but it does seem more realistic.

My daughter got this toy for Christmas and she LOVES it! The doll is very cute. The face of the doll feels more real than any other doll i've ever seen. When you feed the baby her bottle her eyes open and close and her mouth moves like she is sucking on the bottle. She also interacts with her little teddy bear blanket when you put it on her chest.
