Toys and Games Reviews of WowWee Tribot Talking CompanionCustomer Review: A very limited robot Summary: 1 Stars
It's hard to put into words how upset I was with this robot. I've seen robots on the TV, and they all seem capable of doing pretty incredible things (have you ever seen Bicentenial Man?!?). I was under the impression that a robot's entire purpose is to improve the life of its owner. The worst thing that could happen is the robot would become self aware and unleash an attack upon humanity... but this robot is relatively small so the threat seems a little less. Needless to say, this particular robot did not help me clean the dishes, nor did it make me a pancake breakfast when I woke up late one Wednesday morning. The good news is that I'm not worried at all that my robot will turn against me, because he is incapable of even the simple task of taking out the trash. I guess the blame really falls to me for letting myself get so excited. I gave it a 5 for durability because in my frustration I unsuccessfully tried to destroy it by throwing it against the wall.
Customer Review: ROBBIE THE ROBOT, MOVE ASIDE !! Summary: 4 Stars
Not a bad robot - looks great - kinda like the ideal toy company robot of the 60's with all of the moving gears...it's pretty neat with all of it's infrared stuff - and smart robot features....it's a little difficult to steer and you would think a robot of this age would steer more like a remote control race car. I can't slam it for the Amazon price...I wouldn't pay $100 for it like Target and KB Toys has it marked. It does have some really neat features like the "guard robot" feature or the alarm. The games can be neat for a kid with patience. I purchased this product because I have a robbie the robot that I purchased from the early 90's...so this is an added one.
I'd say it's a pretty nice toy.
Customer Review: A Companion for My Son Summary: 5 Stars
My 6-year-old son wanted this robot for Christmas. My oldest son (22-year-old) purchased it for him and he enjoys this toy more than I could have ever imagined. It is a true companion for him. He talks to it and talks about it constantly. He went to school and talked to his classmates about it. Another classmate has one of the other robots in the series and now he wants that one also for his birthday in March. Now he talks about both of them and has decided they are brothers. He loves these robots and is looking forward to his birthday!! I recommend this robot for any young child interested in science and/or artificial intelligence, science fiction, etc. and/or robots, robotics.
Customer Review: odd Summary: 2 Stars
My 5 yr.old son wanted a remote control robot. He perused through his options at Amazon, of course wanting the very expensive ones most of all, and finally landed on this WowWee Tribot. He played with it for a couple days and that was it. I think the voice of the robot sounds too much like a fuzzy friendly toy rather than a cool monotone robot voice, which is what my son was expecting. Over all this robot is an odd combination of personality and limited capability for the amount of money it was. Not enough features and too much buddy-buddy. One good thing is how durable it is. Well made & sturdy.
Customer Review: My 12 year old grandson was happy, so happy! Summary: 5 Stars
This was a great christmas gift and it came out of the packaging a lot easier than the Roborover. He had a ball with all the features, exploring, taking it thru its guidance paces and then putting it back at the starting point and having it repeat the path. And what 12 year old wouldn't like the guard function to warn him when his sister is approaching. We were all thrilled with the speech aspect as the quips were really funny, especially when he fell on his back and said something like "this gives me a whole new perspective on the world"! He is still thrilled and plays with it daily.
