Some of the reviews here complain about Robosapien getting "old" after an hour of play. Just wanted to add my .02. As an adult, I do think the novelty wears off after a while but then, that's true of most electronic toys out there. My 8-year-old son received this in Christmas in 2004 and he still plays with it a couple times a month. He taught himself to program the robot and makes up adventures for it. Was it worth the price? Hey, ANY toy my son is still playing with almost a year later was probably worth it. And Roboraptor is on his list for THIS year, for what it's worth.
Oh, and even after lots of play and being dropped a couple of times, we've had no paint chipping and the like. Not sure what others are doing with this guy to get that kind of damage!

People who are saying Paint chips and dumb toy are talking gibberesh. Robosapien is one of the best cheap humanoid robot. I said that because it's cheaper than RS Media, V2 and Starwars Droid thingy. Packaging terribly hard. Complicated Romote but I like the words not the diffrent lights. Cool Lights on the Hand. He looks like he was working out on his Bowflex machine. Too bad only V2 can interact with RoboPet. Sometimes I woory about Robosapien interfering with my wireless network but no need to woory.
PROS: walks human like, Words on the remote, cheap and strong
CONS: complicated remote, can't interact with robopet or roboraptor
BOTTEM LINE: GET THIS AND YOU'LL BE GLAD YYOU DID BUT YOUR DAD OR MOM WOULD'NT BE IMPRESSED

I have wanted one of these since they first shipped. Not really in the budget.
When I brought the thing home from a yard sale, my wife gave me that look. Now that the thing has been played with so much, she admits it is pretty cool.
The sounds can be a little annoying, but less than most noise making toys.
My 4 year old can control most of this guys functions perfectly. Good Luck trying to pick things up, but it is still fun to try.
As I said, ours came from a yard sale it has had a pretty hard life since it arrived at our home, (knocked, kicked and dragged by the arm)
It still works great.
Seems to get a reasonable amount of time from batteries.

If your thinking of buying this product, then I urge you to buy it now. This robot is a great toy for everybody. It is very entertaining. This toy has 4 sensors, right side sensor, left side sensor, sound sensor, master program. The robot can therefore have reflexes. For example if Robosapien's right foot bums into a wall, you may have pragrammed to autimatically back up. Whats amazing is that u can link together 84 moves in one program. The sound sensor is quite cool aswell. I clap, and robosapien throw my dirty laundry at me. I garentee your child will never become tired of the endless programs you can make. ROBO IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF NEW AGE ROBITS AT ITS BEST.AS A COLLECTOR OF FINE ROBOTS FOR HOME USE AND NOT AS TOYS,I HAD GREAT INTREST IN THE ROBOSAPIEN. I WOULDN'T NECESSARILY RECOMMEND IT AS TOY FOR ROUGH KIDS BUT AS A LEARNING PLATFORM FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS. WITH A LITTLE PATIENCE YOU CAN PICK THINGS UP AND HIS MOTIOINS ARE VERY FLUID. THIS IS ROBOTICS AT ITS BEST. YOU MIGHT EXPECT TO SEE SOMETHING LIKE THIS FROM HONDA OR SONY WITH THEIR TOP DOLLAR BOTS BUT TO GET SUCH QUALITY AT A BARGAIN PRICE IS GREAT. YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF THINKING THE LITTLE GUY IS ALIVE!!!! IT'S LIKE WATCHING THE CHARACTERS FORM SMALL SOLDIERS COME TO LIFE IN FRONT OF YOU.
