Customer Review: the robosapian is awsome
Summary: 5 Stars

the suspician i had of my christmas present was right! i got a robosapian and it is so much more awsome than i ever could have imagined the pacaging wasn't that difficult to get off it took me and my dad about 10 minutes just use plyers to unscrew the zip ties. It might be a little frusterating but its well worth it! For those of you that are confused about weather to buy it or not if your expecting sompthing to bring you drinks and check the mail save up for a time machine.reasonable expections would be a TOY that will give you and your family a laugh and act as a good play TOY rather than a talking companion.Don;t expect any intelegence. One more thing alot of the negative comments I heard from other reviews i find not to be true like the chipping paint non of mine has peeld off mabye their to rough with their unit and the fact that the novelty wore off mabye its because im a kid but im still exploring many of his functions.there is 1 downside though i cant seem to get him to walk in a strait line i think one of my units legs are off centered is anyone else having this problem plz let me know

Customer Review: Too weak and bulky
Summary: 2 Stars

When I got the robosapien, I was extremely excited. Being a videogame playing teen, I got the robosapien for one reason and one reason only, to destroy buildings and other random objects that I set up for it. I was quickly dissapointed after using it because its arms are so weak that they cant even push over a small building-log building. Also, Robosapien is very clumsy for a nasa designed toy. The sensors on the hands and feet were probably the biggest annoyment of this toy, because the slightest touch stops all movement of the robot, and it cant even walk through a group of plastic army men without almost falling over. It was fun for a while and some of its functions I found very amusing, but it isnt worth $80-100. It wouldve been alot better if they hadnt tried to make this walk, because it wouldve been far easier to but it on tank treads or something, that way it wouldnt be so boring, at least wheels or something would be able to get up a slope. Also, I found the robosapien looking very fragile and breakable. Definately not a toy for small children. My opinion, get something else.

Customer Review: A Human-like Step Towards the Future
Summary: 5 Stars

Although it isn't a fully functional and purposeful robot, the Robosapien is a toy that takes human-like steps (and burps, whistles, and attitude) to entertain without requiring financing to purchase.

The fun part is just finding out how human you can make the Robosapien through all of the available commands and keeping them in fluid action. Be careful - the commands you choose might just reflect the real-life habits of the controller!

The recommendation by the manufacturer to place tape over the speaker to make the robot quieter is a good one - volume buttons on the remote (and a mute button) would have been nicer. The "voice" can definitely be improved with the next version, as almost every sound is burp-like.

The voice, however, is not the focus - the very fluid movements and coordination of many motors within the fairly sturdy body are the impressive achievements with this toy.

The best feature would be a button that would allow the Robosapien to hack his own way out of the incredibly difficult packaging job.

Customer Review: Great for guests, good advanced programming
Summary: 4 Stars

I work at RadioShack, and we sell quite a few of these things. We also have one out for demonstration purposes, so I get to show it off a lot. I get to play with it every day, so I haven't bought one yet, but I might if I stop working here.

The basic functions and "personality" of the Robosapien are quite entertaining, especially for those who are experiencing it for the first time. I would highly recommend it for a coffee table item, or something to start a conversation with guests. If you read the whole manual (not too long) you can really program it to do some great sequences of moves, even though the built in demo-modes are quite entertaining by themselves.

Another thing - it's REALLY sturdy. We've had one on display for almost a year now, and it has fallen off of boxes, been kicked and abused, and still does everything it did when it was brand-new. A set of batteries will last you quite a while as well.

Overall, I think it would be worth it, as long as you let everyone who comes over play with it.

Customer Review: Stupid Robot
Summary: 2 Stars

It was a good thing I didn't pay for this (my dad got it) cuz it was a waste. Allright- I opened it from a sealed package, took fifteen minutes to take off the twisties, unscrewed the battery cover and put in the batteries (you need FOUR D batteries and 3 AAA batteries) and than turned it on. I thougt it was supposed to act weird but after reading the manual, it said nothing about weird bleepin and rapid clicking noises. It did note that eratic behavior may have been from sunlight or your own lighting because it blocks infrared transmission from the remote to the robot's head but get this- I put it in complete darkness and away from any wireless devices or whatever in my bathroom and it still doesn't work. &$%#! I read in the manual its supposed to do this wake up routine but it doesn't even get past that so it won't recieve any of my commands. Great. I recommend getting the Mini Robosapien instead- it doesnt do half the things Robosapien is SUPPOSED to do but its only ten bucks here on Amazon[...].
