Toys and Games Reviews of Rubik's Twist (Colors May Vary)Customer Review: Loved it as a kid, Love it as an adult Summary: 5 Stars
I had one of these when I was a kid in the 80's. I could make all sorts of shapes with it. It broke a few years back and I finally broke down and got a new one. I have three kids now, ages 8-15. This toy was used all day long today (it just arrived). My kids are excited about learning news ways to twist and shape it into different forms and patterns. It really has a unique way of bringing hand-eye coordination together as well as sparking up the puzzle-solving and imagination parts of the brain. A Rubik's cube challenges you to solve a puzzle. This challenges you to push your creativity to the limit. It was fun for me to revisit the shapes I used to make, but even more fun to watch my children take it up, have fun with it as well as struggle with it. It became a fun way of dealing with challenge, frustration, etc. I just might know a good Christmas present for all three kids this year....
Customer Review: Even more fascinating than Rubik's magic (and that's pretty good)!! Summary: 5 Stars
Another really cool shape-changing object from the Rubik Co.
You can solve the various puzzle variations, or just let your hands wander
and see the shifts in shapes and configuration unfold.
It tends to be more "durable" once you have a few minutes
to get the "feel" of it (rotating sections & pieces
& not forcing anything).
The only times the Twist seems to break are when some someone unused
to this "feel" applies too much force on a section *in the wrong direction* in
the 1st minute or so of use. I've seen both 4-year old kids and 47-year old adults do this.
But most folks get the fairly gentle touch required fairly quickly, and "safe" angle of twists,
and have a fun time with it.
Another great coffee-table toy.
Customer Review: Classic toy, lasting charm, fun for kids and adults to fidget with Summary: 4 Stars
The images shown for this product don't really display it's basic shape. When extended and unfolded, this toy is like a long snake, with sections that alternate in color. Each section is a triangular shape that pivots where it meets the sections next to it. When you twist it the pieces kind of lock together at 90 degree angles, making it easy to make a stunning variety of shapes. You can twist it into a compact ball, mimic an animal shape, or create interesting patterns and geometric shapes. I remember this toy sitting on my Grandparents' table most of the time as a kid, and for years it has remained fun to play and fidget with.
Customer Review: Not as good as the older ones. Summary: 1 Stars
I was very excited to get one of these, loving the ones I had as a kid. Unfortunately, the newer version is not as durable. On the first day I had it, my stepson accidentally popped one of the joints apart. It was possible to fix it (which involved prying the tops off the two affected segments, squeezing the joint mechanism back together with a pair of pliers, and then gluing the tops back on the segments. Very shortly, without even being careless or forcing it, the exact same thing happened at a different segment. I never had this problem with the older Rubik's Snakes. Skip this version and get an older one from a yard sale.
Customer Review: I've been looking for this for years! Summary: 5 Stars
I got a mini version of this from a vending machine a long time ago and fell in love with it. After days of playing with it, i somehow got lucky and was able to turn it back into a ball! Years later i lost the mini version and came across this! I'm so glad i bought it. i've wasted many hours making new shapes. I'd say i mastered it cause i can transform it back into a ball pretty easily now. But it still never gets dull. The quality of it is pretty amazing. I handle mine pretty rough sometimes, but it still keeps together and froms easily. i think i'll buy another in the near future. Imagine the shapes you can make with 2!
