after id played the 4x4x4 cube for awhile,
the inner pieces tended to pop out.
i was afraid that this would be the case with the professor, as well..
but that hasnt happened at all.
and i spin this cube at least 12 times a day.
the pieces still have a firm hold and spin well.
the stickers began to peel within a few days,
but i am hard on stickers, so it could just be me.
=P
all in all..
im gonna give this cube five big stars.
its one of my fav toys ive gotten from amazon.

Reading other reviews I noticed that people are not pleased with the durability of the Professor Cube. However, in the package it states that is NOT for speedcubing. Maybe is a little pricey, but that only makes me take more care of it. Durability if just fine.
The stickers are another story. After a few weeks of constant usage, they start to peel off their transparent cover and the colors begin to fade. Just make sure you are gentle with the cube and you'll enjoy plenty of hours of fun.

This puzzle is a great challenge. There are so many more pieces to put together, and the smaller cubies feel great in the hand. However, the cube is inherently fragile, due to the much much greater number of moving parts (all held together by each other, buy the way). If you are careful of this cube and buy it from a place you know has a good return policy, it shouldn't be a problem, but it is easy to misalign it by accident and have a piece twist out of its spot...
I don't solve competitively, but I do spin the sides around pretty fast when solving. The durability is really dependent on the tension of your cube, which unfortunately varies a lot and isn't adjustable in this cube. I had a cube before the one I am reviewing, and in 4 days it popped and I returned it. The one I have now is nearly perfect tension, and it turns well and hasn't popped yet.
The stickers peel easily, and that is the main flaw of this puzzle. Fortunately there are sites that sell great quality stickers for cheap, but the cube really should include great stickers stock, the ones it comes with peel within the first solve.
And, of course, its a rubiks cube design, so its fun and educational.

The cube is very fun and cool, but the colored stickers started falling off after a few days. In my opinion, it was still worth it. I will not purchase replacement stickers because they won't stay on. I just used colored permanent markers on the squares missing stickers. Customer Review: Much Fun

About 2 months ago I bought a 3X3 and decided to solve it. The first time, it took me about one hour to solve. In three weeks I was down to just under one mineut, not fast by some standards, but it was fun. I then turned to the 4X4 cube. This one was a little more of a challange. It took me about 4 hours to solve this one for the first time. Finally I moved on to the 5X5. This one took me one hour to solve the first time and I am now down to about 5 mineuts to solve (mostly because you are not able to turn it very fast without tearing it up.) This one is no harder than the 3X3. In fact if you can solve a 3X3, you can sove this cube with the same algorithms joint with simple intuition. Overall very much fun. And a great way to waist a couple mineuts if your bored of the spherical nature of everything around you.
