Bought this for my 12 year old after he solved the regular rubiks cube. He likes this and has learned to solve it also and create a checkerboard pattern and some other patterns. This cube is more complex which is good for problem solving. The only concern is that it feels more delicate. The cube is very flexible and you have to be careful how you twist the pieces. My son does not have a problem with that though.Customer Review: My son hasn't mastered this one yet...

...and he's had it for a month now. He may have to get the online help in the end, but he is bull-headed and will wait a while before giving up, and will still say it is worth having.
All these Rubik's cubes are inexpensive, yet challenging and thought-provoking alternatives to hand held video games for long car drives of doctor's office waits, or any other circumstances when kids have "down" time on their hands. My son takes one to Boy Scout meetings as his troop never has enough business to keep them busy for the whole hour, and does not allow electronic toys to be brought.
I guess I'll have to start looking online for the 6 x 6 and 7 x 7 for next Christmas!

When I got it, I solved it once, and it was pretty fun ti solve, but then a corner broke (i had an extra 5x5 corner laying around, so im safe) pretty fun, but not too durable. i reccomend getting another brand of 5x5, but this was on sale when i got it so it was so worth it!
