I ordered this for my son who is 15 years old. I purchased this thinking it would be more of a challenge for him vs. online gaming.
Turns out, it was. It's definitely a lot more difficult than the original so this product wouldn't be for younger kids. Something I noticed, the pieces tend to fall apart when turning the rows.
Other than that, it's a decent product overall. You just need to break it in a little bit when you first buy it.

When i got this puzzle the pops and turning weren't to good. After i lubed the puzzle the turning improved alot. But the pieces poped more often. One time it poped so much i had to completely take it apart. when i got to the last center piece i found out that it was missing. when i noticed that i contated Billy hansen and got a replaced it. If i had to recomend the rubiks 4x4 i would tell them to get the eastsheen 4x4 due to the better overall quality.Customer Review: My son was devastated!

My son learned to solve the 3X3 and was excited to try the 4X4 rubiks cube. He checked the mail for almost a week and rejoiced when it finally arrived. Within minutes of play it fell apart a was broken beyond repair. Amazon has a lovely policy of honoring returns in unopened packages in origianl condition. How nice of them! Not only did we waste our money but my son is heartbroken. I bought the cube, and it was in ruins a week later due to the fact that the cube started showing signs of flakiness by the second day: some of the stickers (mostly the white and blue ones) had begun peeling off. This is beyond belief because this toy should have been designed / built with the durability to withstand some handling; the statement "if you learn how to solve the cube, then you'll be performing thousands of turns on it" is spot-on.Customer Review: If You're Into Speed-Cubing...

If you're into speed-cubing, this cube isn't for you. You're better off paying $25+ for one of the better models like Eastsheen or Mefferts. I received mine today and pieces are already starting to pop. It turns horribly and it doesn't seem to be getting any looser.
However, I bought this cube in order to learn how to solve it. If those were your intentions, then by all means buy this cube and have fun with it.
