Customer Review: The #1 Hit for Christmas... even over a much longed for Video Cam!!!

Our 10 year old son has been asking for a video camera for 2 years. We finally got it this year for him as his big Christmas gift. Rubik's cubes have also apparently come back strong. He has been asking for one for a month or two. Naturally, I expected it to be a short-lived fad that would fade in comparison to his much longed-for video camera. To my suprise, after a day of contemplation the kids were all asked what their favorite gifts were. As we tucked him in, our son kept saying how he couldn't wait to go back to school to show everyone his 5x5 Rubiks cube. It's all he did all day and seems we're in for a lot more. It also stood up to his "learning" how to take it apart and put it back together (his 3x3 didn't survive that learning). Seems like a winner so far!Customer Review: Fun, but not built well.

I have loved Rubik's cubes since the 80s when I was a kid. They are a lot of fun and they help develop/refine spatial reasoning. This is a great toy, but I am NOT impressed with the quality.
The cube is difficult to turn, the stickers peel off, and I constantly have the cube bind. If I were to try to solve the cube very fast, I would probably shatter the thing and be left wondering how to put it back together. I have had a couple of pieces pop out while working with it, but since I was going slow it was easy to pop the piece back in.
My son bought the 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 from Eastsheen. It is a much better cube and a better size for the hand. I would hightly recommend the Eastsheen cube, but I am only luke warm to the Winning Moves brand.

I had heard rumors of this cube, and didn't find it until a few months ago. It is, quite obviously, much harder than the 3x3x3, but it's fun to twist it, especially to see the combinations of colors impossible with smaller cubes. And no, I haven't solved it...yet(Bum-ba-ba-bum-ba!)
You do have to be careful twisting it. But it does warn you on the box that it's not for "speed cubing" or the like. Also, they do not include a hints/solution manual, but do give a website. I haven't broken it yet, and unless you're just reckless or impatient, it would be hard to do. Overall, it's a fun puzzle. I would suggest buying it only if you like the original cube, but that's just me. It's fun on its own merit, too. That's it for me - long live Rubik's Cubes!

This product is poorly constructed and is definitely not worth it. When I took it out of the box I noticed how unstable it seemed compared to the 3x3 and even 4x4 Rubik's cubes. The layers needed to be 100% aligned in order to turn. Even when the layers are aligned, it still takes a lot of effort to turn. I contacted Winning Moves complaining about this product. They sent me a new Rubik's 5x5 cube, but it was poorly constructed just like the first cube. I was very disappointed with this product and highly recommend that you do not purchase this product. If you want a good 5x5 cube, buy the V-Cube 5 Multicolor. It is more expensive, but is constucted much better.Customer Review: Not as bad as all the hype

After purchasing this product and awaiting its long-past-expected-delivery, i was actually happy with the product. My 5x5 turns fairly well, though fragile would seem to fit to a degree. Personally, after taking it apart and lubing it. Mine has never unintentionally come apart. It is slower than my 3x3 cube but that much was expected. I hate the stickers on EVERY rubiks or stock cube and ALWAYS invest in the tiles or textured stickers advertised online. I think that what you get out of a cube is what you put in, and if you buy this EXPECT a stock cube. If you want to speed solve and continually use it, invest in lube and stickers. It is a great puzzle and any lover of the 3x3(like myself(I can solve in under 1 min)) will love this puzzle even more.
