Toys and Games Reviews of Pass the Pigs

Customer Review: great game
Summary: 5 Stars

I actually have the ORIGINAL version of this game from the early 1970s. My game is called "Pig Mania" but it appears to be the same exact game, (Complete with a "Pig Pen" (that long ago ran out of ink), a "Pig Pad" for keeping score), and a Pig Sty (the cup that the pigs get tossed from). I recently pulled my game off the shelf, and dusted it off for my 4 year old, she has been having a great time.
I came here to look for a new one in better condition. Since my game is 30 years old and has seen the effects of time, I know it will not stand up to a 4 year old's abuse.
But all in all, this is a GREAT game. As a PP post said, it IS great for all ages 3-103. I am exited about the current packaging, this seems that it will be a great thing for my purse, and something to keep my DD busy while in waiting rooms or in returarants.

Customer Review: Great Game, Perhaps Slightly Overrated
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this based on the dozens of glowing reviews here on Amazon, the wide age range (easy enough for my 7 year old), and the low purchase price (less than $10).

The pigs are adorable and the self containing hard plastic packaging is much more durable than the cardboard boxes most games come with. I am sure this will accompany us on trips to the beach.

That said, the game gets very repetitive fast. And by fast, I mean in the first 30 minutes of total game play. There are a limited number of rolls and they take place again and again until someone reaches 100. And since you can roll as many times as you want (unless you roll a pig out), it is possible for only one player to play for a whole game with nobody else having a turn. Yay. We will have to look for some alternative rules to spice things up.

Customer Review: Difference between Pass the Pigs and Pass the Pigs Deluxe
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased Pass the Pigs Deluxe by Winning Moves from the internet thinking there were differences in the Pass the Pigs game distributed by Milton Bradley and the one by Winning Moves (The game by Milton Bradley was all sold out on the internet). Sorry folks, the only difference is the packaging. Both games have the same sturdy plastic pig carrying case and the exact same contents. However, in the original Pass the Pigs game the instruction packet is larger while in the Deluxe Edition there is a very small instruction packet. So, save a few dollars and "try to find" the original in the box. I got lucky and found the original in a Pharmacy.

Enough of the complaining. With either game, you would have the same amount of fun. But if you are cost conscious like I am, get the cheaper product.

Customer Review: Great game, a few quibbles
Summary: 3 Stars

We fell in love with Pass the Pigs at Christmas, so we bought four more from Amazon, for gifts to friends. I don't know if it's because these were the Deluxe Edition, or what, but they're different. The carrying case is different, stylish and more streamlined, maybe, but cramped. The score sheets are tiny, and almost illegible. But the biggest problem: the left ear seems to be slightly shorter than the right, so that there can be no "leaning jowler" position to the left side, and neither of the pigs lies flat on its side (I think, still because of the short ear) and we've had to award many "razorbacks" when we suspect they should have been simple siders (1 point) or "pigouts." A letter to the Pass the Pigs company was answered, but didn't address my suspicions.

Customer Review: Tossing pork never gets old!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you always lose games or just love to play games this is the game for you. There is absolutely no skill involved in this game so if you always lose you have to win this game eventually. Amazingly this game never gets old. I use to play this game with my grandma when I was 5. I'm 22 now and I still love it. There is nothing more exciting about getting a double hoofer or a double razorback. Another great thing about this game is that everyone is really relaxed and it never ends up in an ugly fight. I am super competitive and always end up in fights. I have never had this game end up in a fight (Ok there was that one time when my brother caught me cheating at least that's what he called it, I called it strategic placement of my pigs.) A must own for everyone.
