I bought this game for my 7 yo chess fanatic (who currently plays competitively) as a way for the rest of the family to be able to join in the fun. Well my 3yo has been to many of his club meetings and matches and was so interested and excited to finally have a set at home that she insisted on playing with someone. Well, to make a long story short, this product is so easy to use and follow that, by the end of the evening, my little girl was playing chess and even confidently setting up the pieces on her own. I purchased this because of the reviews that vouched for easing in the beginnings, especially kids. The chess board is two sided: one side has stationary positioning labels and movement rules for the pieces. The other side is the standard chess board. The chess pieces are your typical plastic (strong but hallow). The cards included for "thinkless" play are good starters.
Overall, a great value. It's already a full chess set, plus extras for beginners/kids. All cheaper than chess sets of the same quality.

The game "No Stres Chess" is a fun and easy way to teach kids chess. My sons and I have been playing since 7pm and only stopped because it was bedtime. Instead of choosing the piece you're going to move, you draw a card which tells you the piece to move and has a diagram showing the ways that piece can move. This unpredictablity make it fun even for experienced Chess players. This hands on approach to teaching kids chess will keep them interested in the game as their skills improve. We just purchased this for our just turned 5 year old and we are loving it. I've known how to play chess for a long time but don't know ALL the rules and my husband hardly knows how to play at all. Teaching my very bright son seemed like it was going to be tedious and unfun until I found this game. It's great! He's had so much fun playing it and beat his dad tonight (great moral booster). I love that there are different levels and that we can use it to play traditional chess as well. Great idea and execution.Customer Review: Good Place to Start with Chess

This was a great way for Mom to learn chess. My 9 yr old daughter had played a little chess before, so she felt ready to play "regular" chess quickly. I on the other hand am still enjoying playing with the cards. My 11 yr old never played chess and she caught on quickly and is also enjoying playing "regular" chess now. Playing either way is entertaining for both of them. My 6 yr old is ready to give it a shot too! I would definitely recommend this as a great place to start yourself and kids with chess.
