Toys and Games Reviews of No Stress ChessCustomer Review: Chess made easy Summary: 5 Stars
I wanted my son to learn to play chess, but he said it was for "old people". So, I didn't have much hope for this game when I bought it. My 6 year old can't get enough. If is a fun and easy way to learn the game and to play with all levels of chess expertise. After a few weeks of playing the game with the cards, my son wanted to try to play on his own without the cards. With this game you just flip the board and play. When he plays with his younger brother, we flip it back and use the cards.
Materials are sturdy, board is sturdy and well made so it won't crack like other board games. Really a fun game for us.
Customer Review: Excellent teaching toy Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased "No Stress Chess" for my sons, 9 and 7. They had enjoyed "How to Play Chess with Fritz and Chester" on the computer, so I thought it was time for some hands on playing. They were dubious at first, but played through a game. It is now one of their favorite ways to spend time. I am surprised when I overhear their game and they have understanding of the rules of chess and movements of the pieces. I can say that they have taught themselves to play the game with the help of this set. My daughters, 10, 17, and 19, have started to play and learn the game as well. Overall, a great purchase, definitely recommended.
Customer Review: Pure genius! Summary: 5 Stars
WE LOVE this game. I bought this because as I was watching my 6 year old play checkers one day with his hand on his chin (much like the statue of "The Thinker") planning his next move so as to make the right choice I thougt, "I bet he'd like chess, but I'M not going to be the one to teach him!" Then at work my boss mentioned this game and I think it's brilliant. It teaches board set-up as well as the name of each piece by sight and which way each of those pieces can move (and which ways they can't). What it removes (until you are ready) is the strategy part. You can add that in at your OWN speed. It's great!
Customer Review: Great Family Game Summary: 5 Stars
I highly recommend this game, especially for families. I have played with all of my children. The youngest is 4 and the oldest is 10. We have had a great time, and the children have all learned the game easily. You can use one side of the board to learn where all the pieces go, and use it with the cards. After learning, you can flip the board over and use the standard chess board. Even without the cards, the game would be worth the $13 I paid for it. With the cards, it opens up the world of chess to the entire family. The only downside is that my children argue about who gets to play me first each night.
Customer Review: Anyone can play this game Summary: 5 Stars
My 10 year old son just got this game for Christmas. His friend at school played chess and he was wanting to learn as well. Nobody in our family knew how to play so I bought this for him. Within the first hour he had moved past level one with his 13 year old brother. Now 24 hours later the entire family can play the game without the aid of the cards. I still leave one of each card out just as a reminder on what piece can move in what way. Not only for me but also saves on any arguements between the kids when one is getting ready to lose. Overall this is one of the best games I have ever bought.
