This was a gift. I had some doubts about it but my son was dead against it, saying his boys (twins) were way too young (they just turned 7). I sent him the link describing it. He cahged his mind in a hurry and said it is awesome and the boys love it. No regrets at all and would highly recommend it. We got this and my boys took to it instantly. They wanted to play over and over. By the end of the day -- and about 30 games of no-stress chess later -- they knew how all the pieces moved. From there my 6 year old has taken to the game very quickly. My 5 year old has as well. Now, a month later, they are playing chess on our iPad and iTouches.

No Stress Chess is the best game I have found for teaching both kids and adults to chess. Even if you already know the game, No Stress introduces the element of chance. It is a fun twist on the game. It is also a quality set that can be used to play traditional chess matches. This is a type of chess that can be played drawing cards to see what piece you get to move next. Setting up killing your opponents pieces can be really tricky, because you don't know what piece you'll be able to move. We had been trying to teach the game of chess to our 6 yr old and 5yr old kids. Could not find fun ways to make the game and instructions interesting to them. When I was looking for books on Chess for kids on Amazon, I came across this game. My kids have been playing for 2 hours non stop every day. And they want more. We love this kit.
