Toys and Games Reviews of No Stress ChessCustomer Review: Great for Beginners! Summary: 5 Stars
My son got this for his 7th birtday. He had been asking how to play chess and I didn't remember from my childhood. This has been a great toy to teach BOTH of us. He now plays without the help of the cards. I, however, still need one of each card out so I can remember how each piece can move. He's ready for a more challenging partner now! He plays this ALL the time (Even with stuffed animals, when I can't play!). He quickly moved on to the without the cards version.
Much fun for the money!
Customer Review: Love this chess set! Summary: 5 Stars
We got No Stress Chess on a whim, thinking that our 6 year old was too young to play "real" chess. We LOVE it. Because the moves are guided by the luck of the draw, you can master single move strategies (e.g., do I move this bishop or that bishop, and how far?) without becoming overwhelmed with strategy or intimidated by more experienced players. I know how to play chess, and I think this version is really fun. I like that my son enjoys the game and has a decent chance of winning, which he has done!
Customer Review: no stress chess Summary: 5 Stars
I wanted my 9 year old to learn how to play chess and the no stress chess game was a good way to start with. Not very expensive (in case he did not like it). The game has cards that tell him what to do and what to move next. The first time we played, we started out with the cards so he would know what he needed to do. By the 3rd game, he did not need the cards. He liked the game so much that we must have played about 10 times that day.
It is a good, fun family game.
Customer Review: great way for both kids and adults to learn chess Summary: 5 Stars
Chess is a great game that is not only a joy to play, but also one of those games that will make you a bigger and better thinker, since it will affect you "off the board" as well. This is a great way to learn it. Very creative and quick to pick up. I played years ago, but am not a master by any means. This was a great refresher and made it easy for me to find people to play with.
Definitely a great way to learn how to play this game and teach it to others!
Customer Review: Fast & easy, maybe too much! Summary: 5 Stars
My 6 year old had mentioned wanting to learn chess. I bought this for Christmas. He learned so fast we hardly used the cards! Now he gets frustrated when we play with the cards. It is a TOTALLY different game with the cards -- you can have someone in your "grasp" but can't take them because you don't get the right card. In my opinion, the cards are GREAT for learning which ways the pieces can move, but once you've mastered that, it's better to play without the cards.
