Toys and Games Reviews of Crocodile DentistCustomer Review: Cute but overpriced Summary: 4 Stars
I got this as a gift for my 5yr old and he loves it. It's cute, but smaller than you'd think and definitely overpriced at $13.99 plus shipping. In a store, I wouldn't pay more than half of that price for this toy. Be prepared: the top jaw slams down on your finger, and while my son doesn't cry (it doesn't really hurt so much as it surprises you), he does yell "ouch" ...And then continues playing with it. The tooth that makes the crocodile "bite" is random so you never know which one it'll be. The game goes quickly and can be fun for the entire family, which is nice when it's so hard to find games that not only appeal to the whole family, but can be played by families with age ranges from preschool children to older adults. It's a great way to squeeze a family game in on a busy weeknight. It works as a travel game too, since there are no loose pieces and it's a fairly small size.
Customer Review: The Surprise Hit at Christmas Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this for my 3 year old son as a Christmas gift. Truthfully, it was more of an afterthought - almost like a stocking stuffer. We started playing it with him and we quickly found out how much fun it is. First off, there are no batteries needed and no loose pieces to get lost. We LOVE this!
However the biggest reason we like it is that ANYONE can win this game, even my 3 year old son. Most, if not all, of the games we own require some sort of skill to play and win. Winning Crocodile Dentist is based on luck - all Joe has to do is push down on a tooth. So he has just as good of a chance of winning as does his big brother, mom, or dad.
I HIGHLY recommend it for young ones - in particular if they have older siblings who seem to always 'win' at everything they do. I promise it will quickly become one of their favorites!
Customer Review: Ridiculously funny Summary: 5 Stars
You just can't help but laugh. It is just really funny how tense people get as more teeth get pushed... After only a little while we had to institute a "You touch it, you push it" rule, because the kids would start to try to feel that tiny little bit of extra resistance when they get to the trigger tooth.
About the durability, yeah, it won't last forever, and eventually the hinge starts to wear out. The top jaw might come off, but most of the time you can pop it back on. If it does break, though, you can take it apart and try to figure out how a mechanical (read, nondigital) device can randomly choose a tooth to be the next trigger. A clever little bit of engineering inside.
Customer Review: just as fun for adults as for kids! Summary: 5 Stars
i'll admit, i'm 29 years old but i have this toy and i guarantee that it's not just for kids. put an adult spin on it (read: drinking game) and it can be enjoyed by all!
get a group of friends together with your favorite beverage and take turns passing the toy around each pushing a tooth down. if the crocodile snaps on your turn mark it down as one bite. once you get 5 bites (number can always be adjusted to suit the group's alcohol tolerances) you take a shot. if you happen to be the lucky player who presses the last tooth that doesn't cause the crocodile to snap, everybody else in the group gets a bite and that lucky player gets one bite taken off. sounds fun? you bet!
Customer Review: fun for adults... Summary: 5 Stars
I got the Crocodile Dentist for my 36th birthday last week. My wife (who is older than me) thought it was adorable. For a point of reference, she also likes the eye-gouging humor of the Three Stooges and those coin pusher machines in Vegas.I brought the crocodile dentist to work today and many of my coworkers (software developers, lawyers, and data architects) keep coming over to play with it. When the crocodile "bites" them, they give a big grin and laugh and tell me they want one for their children. Might be that I work at a company that produces online casino software so the chance aspect draws them... Anyway, as to durability, it has been played more than 100 times today.
