Toys and Games Reviews of Wise and Otherwise

Customer Review: Good Times Abound...
Summary: 5 Stars

We loved this game! We bought it for friends and everyone had so much fun playing it!

I recommend this game if you and your fellow players are creative and funny. Not for those who lack a flair for words or a mediocre knowledge of cultures outside of their own. I don't imagine this would be great for children either, as their answers would probably be less believable... and I can't imagine they'd have as much fun.

This game is not so much about winning or losing, but the process of playing. You're likely to be disappointed when someone does win because that means the game is over. Even the winner may be disappointed to have ended the game!

You will have a blast laughing at the answers people come up with and the often hilarious *actual* answers.

Customer Review: Witty, Wealthy, Wacky, and Wise
Summary: 5 Stars

Zanzibarian, Cameroonian, Icelandic, Norwegian, Tibetan, Abyssinian, English, Scottish, Irish, Madagascan, Russian, Italian, Peruvian, Samoan, Persian, Swedish, Greek, Bantu, Moroccan, Cuban, Turkish, Spanish, Wandering Tribes of the Saharan, Maltese, Dutch, Danish, French, Bengali, Burmese, Babylonian!... These are but a few of the places that the crazy old sayings in this amazing game are from. Everyone's lineage has just got to be represented in this wealth of worldly wisdom. Playing Wise and Otherwise is absolutely one of the best ways to see the creative and witty side of your friends and family. I am still quite astounded by some of the things that people come up with and get votes for. This one will really give you many hours of side-splitting entertainment.

Customer Review: Thought it might not be fun, but was totally wrong.
Summary: 4 Stars

I'd read the reviews and decided this would be the board game I'd bring to the big family holiday party. I was looking forward to my brother and I having fun coming up with ridiculous answers. We're big fans of the ludicrous. When I got the game a week before the get-together I opened it up and began playing with my girlfriend. We weren't convinced it was going to be a hit. But we were were wrong.

It turned out to be a lot of fun with eleven of us playing. There was a mix of serious players, and comedic saboteurs like my brother and I. Our 7 year old niece and nephew even played and had fun. 'There is a Moroccan saying, "if the hill is on fire..." it's a bad day to go for a hike wearing kerosene clothing.' I didn't fool anyone with this answer.

Customer Review: Hours of family fun!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this game for my husband after reading all of the positive reviews on Amazon.com, I knew nothing about it other than that. It more than met my expectations!! This game is hysterical. It is fun for all age groups! My 12 year old son loves it, he is so good at making up quirky endings that he fools us most of the time. We recently went out of town for Thanksgiving and one of the first things my in-laws asked was whether or not we brought Wise and Otherwise. Have a few coctails with friends and you won't believe the things people come up with. I highly recommend this game, it never fails to disappoint! The only negative I could find to say about it is that it doesn't take long enough to play a game. That's okay though, we just start a new one!!!

Customer Review: The best board game I've ever played
Summary: 5 Stars

This game is a blast. I've never written an online review before, but I felt like I needed to for Wise and Otherwise. I've had my copy for a few years now, and have probably played about forty games on it. (Each game takes at least an hour or two and is most fun with four to six people with roughly similar verbal skills / creative abilities, so it takes a little effort to get a game going.) It's definitely a little "slow" when you start out playing, but once everyone in the game has played once or twice and understands how to play, it becomes incredibly fun. You don't necessarily have to be a "word" person to like it, or even think of yourself as creative, though imagination helps. A little like Balderdash... but with the potential to be way more fun.
