Customer Review: Don't even get your hopes up

I bought this for my boys for Christmas as they have the console and the youngest was getting the pocket v-smile from Santa so this was going to be the oldest's present from Santa. Luckily I thought to try it out b4 Christmas. It didn't work and it has a really poor design. YOu cannot see your designs on the unit, only on the television screen which I felt was a bit advanced for the 3-6 age group. So I hurridly called c-tech to see if the could send me another unit. I was told I would receive info to return it in 6-10 business days and once they received the unit I would get a replacement in 6-8 weeks. I was also informed that they were having lots of problems with the unit from Amszon. Luckily they were nice enough to ship me out something else at no charge so that my son would have something for Christmas. I had bought the Leapster for my other son for his birthday and the game Mr Pencil's Learn to Draw and Write does the same thing and is sooooo much better. SO if your kids like the v-smile I would also invest in the leapster and purchase that game.

This interactive, creative studio provides opportunities to unleash your child's imagination! The touch-sensitive drawing pad, which looks like an artist's palette, and interactive stylus allow children to scribble, draw and learn while seeing their masterpieces appear on the television screen. With over 12 activities included, children can learn to draw lines and shapes, create pictures, color objects, experiment with mixing colors, and tap into their own creativity by drawing their own, unique masterpieces. With a save function included, young artists can save up to five pictures, add animations into their drawings, and then prepare a slideshow for viewing on the television screen. Plus, the Art Studio features fun games such as making toys, rainbow chase, and animation maker to keep children engaged. With the V.Smile Art Studio, every child is an amazing artist. Connects directly to the V.Smile TV Learning System, sold separately, to create virtual art on the TV screen with the Art Studio cartridge.The V.Smile Art Studio is a touch-sensitive drawing pad that connects to the separately sold V.Smile TV Learning system. It works very much like a drawing tablet for a computer, except that the drawing tools are all built into the tablet itself. On the left side of the tablet there is a palette of 15 colors, and along the bottom are icons representing different tools and functions, such as erase, color fill, shape library and so on. The unit comes with a set of lessons to teach kids the basics of art, such as line drawing, color mixing, and animation. It also features games that teach problem solving, logic skills, and color matching. These games come in easy and hard difficulty levels. A free draw mode lets kids draw whatever they wish, and the system can store up to five of their pictures. The Art Studio is powered by four AA-size batteries, which not included. A built-in cable connects to the player one slot on the V.Smile console. It comes with the Art Studio cartridge, which plugs into the console, and a user manual.
