Toys and Games Reviews of Vtech - V.Smile Baby - Infant Development SystemCustomer Review: not worth the money Summary: 3 Stars
an aunt bought this for my son for christmas when he was 14 months old. he never really got into it. i thought he would at least benefit from the "learn sign language" feature on the games but they were not at all attention grabbing. he was much more interested in the part that held the game cartridge, which unfortunately had to be within his reach in order for the "controller" to work and so we never got very far with this product. he is almost three now and i have another one year old so i often think about turning this on to see if they would be interested but most of the game cartridges are lost in my house right now.
the "controller" has a play on your own feature and my son and daughter have always loved that. but it by itself is definitely not worth the cost of this product.
Customer Review: boring Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this toy for my 9 month old daughter at christmas last year. In almost a year the most fun she has had with it is pushing the on buttong to see the blue light. It is incredibly durable and has been thrown around many times without being broken or even scratched. I like that the cushioned wrist rest comes off and can be thrown in the washing machine but it comes off too easily and my daughter likes to take it off and carry it around the house. The resoloution is horrendous which was not what I was expecting and it was probably my biggest dissapointment. It didnt cost too much money so I guess I got what I paid for but I cant say that I will buy another vtech product in the near future. I would much rather spend a little more for leap frog and know the quality will be good.
Customer Review: 26 1/2 month old Boy LOVES this toy NOW- give it a chance! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this right after my son's 2nd birthday. He totally didn't care for it in any way to start. I stopped trying after a couple days. Let it sit for a month. Planned to return it to Target. My speech/language delayed son in the interim started speech therapy and a pre-preschool (Early Intervention) for Dev delayed kids. A month after that started I tried the system again. He LOVES it now. Will play for hours especially if I am in the same room. He seems to want the acknowledgement/kudos from me that he said the correct word. Between the 5 weeks of therapy and this toy (mostly 2x a week therapy & school.) He's up to 60 words from 12. This toy makes my son excited to learn and his attention span w/ this is LONG.
Customer Review: Great product! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this product for my grandson. He is 16 months and he loves playing with his V-Smile. He knows how to turn it on and how to select what he wants to do. This toy keeps him occupied for a long time. Since most children his age have short attention spans,it is amazing how long he will play and not become bored. There are times when he only wants to listen and not look at what is happening. He seems to want to hear what is being said while he play with another object. When the talking stops, he will go over and select again. He has many toys and this is the only toy that he seems to truly love.
Customer Review: Nope, not this one... Summary: 2 Stars
My 6 yo son has a VSmile for big kids, so, well, we bought a VSmile Baby for and an additional cartridge - no problems. My 16 months old daughter has no interest in it al all. The voices are very soft, and there is nothing to grab child's attention with, very plain colors and - believe it or not - it is very confusing to operate. Well, we did not spend too much time with the thing and now it is sitting on top of the bookshelf, and no one pays attention to it). Really-truly -a waste of money. She (my daughter) has a lot of fun with LeapFrog books, that were sent to my older son (6 yo) by his Grandma.
