Toys and Games Reviews of Vtech - Nitro NotebookCustomer Review: Great for precocious two-year-olds Summary: 5 StarsWe bought this item for the nephew for his 2nd birthday. He is a wild man with fiddly fingers and is always interrupting my sister-in-law's typing. Now, she gives him the Vtech when she wants to type, and both of them are happy.
Customer Review: One Year Old Loves It! Summary: 4 StarsI know this toy is not recommended for toddlers, but we bought this for our one year old because she so desparately wanted to use our laptops and this looks like a real laptop. I have been pleasantly surprised by how much use she has gotten out of it. She is too young to actually play the games, but she knows how to turn it on and off and how to press the demo button, all of which seem to be sufficiently entertaining. Also, it has been surprisingly durable. Of course we watch her carefully when she is using it, but she has not been able to pull up the keys or break it, and she regularly opens it all the way and stands on top of it. Most importantly for us, she has found it an adequate substitute for her neverending desire to use our computers.
As for what other reviews have said... yes, the screen is very small (maybe about 3x5 inches?), but for us that has not been a problem.
Customer Review: V.Smile Nitro Review Summary: 4 StarsI bought this for my daughter who is 5, since she wanted a computer of her own. She loves the computer and nearly plays with it everyday. It has lots of different activities and games to play, which can keep a child occupied, but so can many other toy computers. We own several Vtech products around the house and all perform well. No complaints. I do have to point out that a low-light area could hamper the V.Smile Nitro's viewing capacity. To best use this the Nitro, have it near a light source. All in all, I have no other qualms about this Vtech product.
Customer Review: Just OK Summary: 3 StarsMy 5 year old plays with this lap top quite a bit, but is already getting bored with the games it came with. The graphics are disappointing, and the voice is too baby-like. I am also disappointed that we are not able to purchase any additional cartridges, which means that it is going to be obsolete in just a couple of months. Too bad!
Customer Review: Perhaps not for kids 6 and over...... Summary: 2 Stars...this is not what I'd thought it'd be. Screen is a bit dark, although that's not the main problem. The main issue is that my daughter's almost 7 and she's bored with this already. Frankly, you'd be better off with small, hand-held puzzle gadgets. For kids 5 and younger, this would be of benefit.
