Customer Review: Modest expectations - lousy pictures (don't bother)

I'm a avid Amazon reviewer, even for products I'm not buying here. I wish I had read this review. My expectations were modest when I bought this, but even so.......
MEDIOCRE!
My young daughter LOVES cameras, ever since she was just over a year old. So, why not nourish that enthusiasm at a very young age? No, I don't expert her to be Ansel Adams or Annie Liebovitz. For over $30, I did expect a camera that would take reasonably recognizable pictures when taken by an amateur who would buy a pink camera that can be dropped.

Terrible pictures when she takes them - very grainy, unfocused
Terrible pictures when I take them (trust me, I tried) - very grainy, unfocused - ah, we have a pattern! And yes, these lousy pictures are straight out of the package, before it's been "played with"
Rather confusing interface - harder to navigate to other pictures or functionality that your average Powershot (which I have 2)
I haven't even bothered to transfer or print any of these pictures. It's not worth it.
Overall, I'm giving it 2 stars for kudos for durability, ease of handling - but, come on folks, it's a CAMERA - if the picture is horrible, I might as well have given her an old digital camera with no film.
It gets 2 stars because of high price for a TOY (doesn't take worthwhile pictures) - I'm not giving it 1 star because my little one has enjoyed running around and taking pictures. It has been dropped and the flash and viewfinder still work - I'm not even going to bother to check the pictures, not worth it, but she does have fun with it.
Bottom line - not a camera, just a fairly expensive TOY
If you are looking for a camera out there for a young child who just needs something simple to learn how to take pictures, recommend you keep shopping. Save your money or buy something cheaper.
