Customer Review: Toddlers loved it. But the consoles die quickly

My kids loved the v-smile games. We've bought a console, had it replaced under warrantee and the new one quickly failed. Also had 2 pocket v-smiles that didn't last more than a few months. They all failed at different intervals. You know you don't have long when first you have to reseat the cartriges several times before they work. Then before long they don't work at all.
We tried making certain the kids didn't change cartridges and limited cartridge changes as much as possible. That helped make them last a short number of months instead of hours or weeks. The cartridge system they use is an obvious design flaw.

My preschooler loves the V-smile and the games. However, I can never get it to work on the first try or even after several attempts. It doesn't matter if I am using the adaptor or batteries, the V-smile shuts off when I insert the game cartridge. Then I have to pull out the adaptor or pop out one of the batteries to get it to go back on again. After a lot of frustration and sheer luck, it will finally work. I really wish that my child could start the V-smile and change games all on his own (an adult can barely do it). Maybe I've got a lemon here, but this toy is seriously flawed. We bought the Vsmile for our daughter last year, along with an a/c adapter and a bunch of games. Shortly after buying it, it quit working. Green light wouldn't come on, and it wouldn't power up. Today I broke down and bought a brand new one. I bought it 3 hours ago. We came home, I set it up, and our daughter played with it for an hour or so. She came up a little while ago and said it wouldn't turn on. SAME EXACT THING!!!! No green light, no power!!!! Thank God I bought it today and can return it to the store, but we're still out the original one and a bunch of games. Do not waste your money on this product!Customer Review: Fun, when it works

My son got the new V smile for Christmas last year with a variety of games to go with it. He has loved it from the first day. I on the other hand am not so keen on it. First of all, if you have a newer television (particularly a big screen) the V smile cannot be hooked up to it because the graphics are not made for that type of output. Problem 1. The next problem is that it gets hot and stops working or just refuses to turn on at all. Problem 2. So subsequently, about half the time my son wants to use his Vsmile it will not work. I have decided to chuck it and sell all the cartridges and get him a Leapster.Customer Review: My daughter love her V-smile

We purchased this for my daughter 2 years ago for x-mas... she was 3 1/2 then and didn't quite get it, but now she's a pro at it. We've had no problems with it... I know there's been complaints of it just stopping and not working, but we have seen none of that and would highly recommend it. She loves the games and will play without problems now. It just takes a little getting used to at first with what to do. I'm glad we got it and are now looking at getting the VSmile Pocket for her so she can take the games with her in the car. My son (2 1/2) will "play" with her and loves to watch her play too.
