My four year old daughter got this system for Christmas and has not stopped playing with it for a single day since. The games are challenging but not frustrating for her, and I love that she's practicing important preschool skills while playing. We did buy the second joystick and the electrical adaptor, both of which definitely add to the positive experience with the system. I often sit and play with my daughter in the evenings. I have to admit that I have fun with some of the games, too. Overall, I think this is a great value and very well designed. We look forward to eventually buying some of the add-ons (like the keyboard, mat, art studio) for further enhancement of the fun.Customer Review: My daughter loves it

I or shall I say Santa got this for my 5yr old for Christmas. So far she loves it and can't stay away from it. After reading some of the reviews I was a bit hesitant to spend 60 bucks on it but I found it at Walmart for 39 so I got it anyway and kept the receipt. So far no problems except that it does not come with the AC Adaptor. I had bought batteries for some other toys but I have rechargeable ones in this until I get it. I was a bit shocked when I saw the adaptor on sale on here for 49.99 but found it for 9.84 elsewhere.
My suggestion is get the adaptor ahead of time so that you wont waste money on the batteries. Other than that Im sure the kids will love it.

I purchased two V-Smile units for my grandchildren at Christmas in 2007, plus several games. Since then I also added a hand-held unit for them to use on long plane or car rides.
If only this toy would keep working!!! We have had SO MANY PROBLEMS with power. The adapter units have to be manipulated over and over to get power to the units. Then the games will just quit playing.
I have written to V-Tech and explained the problems and told them of my grandchildren's frustrations when the unit or game quits working.
Although it was great fun, it didn't last. No more money will go into this product.

I read the reviews before purchasing this system. I was a little hesitant due to some of the reviews, but I thought I'd give it a try. My husband and son played this for a couple of hours; my 3 year old absolutely loved it! It keep his attention, and he was very entertained. We turned the system off and put our son down for his nap. Later that afternoon, he wanted to play with it again. To my astonishment, it wouldn't even turn on. I took the batteries out and put them back in again, then replaced them...nothing worked. The power just wouldn't turn on. It died after only 2 hours of use!!! Needless to say, it was returned, and I will never buy Vtech again.Customer Review: It's not working anymore!

My parents gave this VTech V.smile TV Learning System to my son for Christmas, and he's played with it a handful of times. Now, it won't even turn on. We took careful care of this system.
I followed all of the troubleshooting tips, and it's still not working. The hold time to get in contact with Vtech representative is forever long. I did wait until someone came on the line, and they are sending me information on how I can replace the system with a new one.
Think twice before buying this toy. There are better, more reliable game systems out there. Vtech didn't set the bar high in terms of reliability.
