Customer Review: Our Fourth Mystery
Summary: 4 Stars

Pasta was our 4th mystery. As others have said, it is a nice Mystery for decorations and costumes. I was able to use decorations from around the house, including a memorial to Pepi Roni, and everyone was able to make their costumes from what they had in their closets. This is a great plus.

Dinner was a bit excessive. I cooked the entire thing myself. I was exhausted, but luckily I prepared most of the it the day before. The Ziti, Boboli, Garlic dip, and Mocha Cake were the best. I would just stick to those to make it simple. You don't want to end up exhausted!

No one guessed the murderer, but we still had a great time. Everyone enjoyed themselves, even the non-suspects. We had played other games with non-suspects before, so we knew what to expect. Even though, I think I will leave those roles out in the future.

This is an easy mystery to throw together and probably a good one for beginners. It is 100% scripted, you just have to change "you" to "I" which some people seem to have a lot of trouble with! Making your own accents was a lot of fun! "Rocco" sounded like the Godfather. For music I had Sinatra. Overall it was a great time, but these mysteries only do so much. The rest is up to your guests.

Customer Review: A BLAST!
Summary: 5 Stars

WOW! Pretty much sums it up for me. This was our firt murder mystery party and all of us agreed that the night was a blast. Like the other reviews suggest it was helpful that the six of us really got into the costumes and characters. We did a lot of improv. Also it is really a game for just six people. The dinner suggestions were good, but I tweaked them some. This game was so much fun. We played the game over three courses of food. Five hours and nine bottles of wine later we finished the game. We set up a chalk outline with caution tape out by our front door. On our porch we used a white board to outline the evenings menu. We decorated the tables with some fake grapes and used a red/white table cloth. We had candles everywhere and Italian music playing in the backround. I also created mugshots of the suspects so I could take our community newsletter and make a news flash bulletin which I put in each couples mailbox the next day. I cannot express how much fun we had. Not a game for introverts. The only thing that I would caution when you buy this game is to be careful when you are playing the cd. We accidentally jumped ahead in the last round and heard who the murderer was. We are all really excited to do another one.

Customer Review: Excellent Fun! Bravisimo!

We hosted this for our annual New Year's Eve Party. There were 8 of us two of whom were "extras" but we did not tell them that they were extras so that they would get into their parts more. Only the host knew who the extras were. We made up a menu on the computer and did a chalk board menu (like the resturant does) and put it at the entrance to the front door with Christmas lights around it. We transformed our dining room into a restaurant by using different sized tables with checkered tablecloths and small votive candles. We had each couple bring a bottle of their favorite ITALIAN wine and assigned food as well. We playede Frank Sinatra and other Italian favories on the CD player in the background. We took about 3 hours to play the game by doing the scenes at each course of the meal. The important thing is to keep in character throughout the whole game...keep talking in accents and improvise dialogue when you can. REALLY get into your character and you will have more fun. We found trashy new yorker/italian clothes (no offense) at the Goodwill, drew moles on our faces, wore a lot of make up and wore lots of jewelry. It was hilarious and kept us laughing all night. I highly recommend this game. You will not be disappointed!

Customer Review: Not really a toy, but a good game for adults
Summary: 4 Stars

This is the second Murder Mystery game I have purchased from this company. As usual, the recipes were awesome and fairly easy to prepare for an experienced cook (don't worry, they do have an instant menu for those with a fear of kitchen utensils.)

The only drawback is the game caters to an even number of men and women. I work with all males, and we used this game as a farewell dinner for one of the guys. It was entertaining watching men play the female parts, but your guests may not have such a carefree spirit. Also, the game really is for 6 players. The two additional players have very small roles in the game. I had 10 people show up for the dinner--I adjusted the recipes to accomodate--and the extra guests had fun just listening to the dialogue and stirring the proverbial pot when they could.

I did order the Mob I, II, and III CDs which added a wonderful ambience. I saved the game disc and the music discs to my IPOD and took the show on the road. I also ordered an Italian theme party pack which allowed me to decorate the room to resemble an Italian restaurant.

All-in-all, it was a great night of good food, good conversation, and good friends.

Customer Review: Entertaining

This was our 1st time hosting and participating in a murder mystery. We had 8 people. Had I known that the 2 extras wouldn't have much of a part, I would not have invited 2 people to play those parts. They weren't able to participate much in the questioning or the dialogues. I would recommend playing with only 6 people unless the host wants to take an insignificant role so they can take care of the dinner. Even though the extras didn't have much of a part, they still claimed to have fun. It took us about 3-4 hours to play. I served dinner in between dialogues and I think that is how to drag it out to 3-4 hours.

The only issue I have with this game is the cost. If someone could come up with a murder mystery game that changed the murderer and the plot up a little every time, I think it would be worth the $30 I paid for it. As it is, $30 for one time is a bit much for a game. However, it was fun and you'd probably spend that much going to out to eat. This way, you get to eat and solve a mystery.
