Toys and Games Reviews of Five Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed GameCustomer Review: Agree with all the IT'S BORING reviews Summary: 1 Stars
Ugh - this thing is a major disappointment. My son LOVES the Five Little Monkey books, so we thought this would be a great choice as a Christmas gift. So last Christmas (2009) we gave it to him. He was excited and couldn't wait to play it. As others have said - especially the reviewer Matthew, it instructions to play are really poorly thought out for the age range. And since there are so few choices of what one must do (get ready for bed or brush your teeth, etc), it's incredibly boring, incredibly quickly. How many times can a kid have to pantomime the same action? By the second time (or maybe third if you have a tolerant kid), they don't want to bother anymore. As so many others have said, the only fun part of this entire game is getting the monkeys on the bed, pushing the button down, and waiting for them to all pop off. In over a year, my son has attempted to play this normally TWICE only. Now it's not even an option - and I cannot blame him. It's awful. So the only way he plays this is we each choose a color of monkey, pile them in various spaces on the bed, press the button until they pop, and whoever has more monkeys still standing, wins.
Idiotic. I would absolutely NOT waste my money on this - even if you found it for $1 at a yard sale, I'd not bother.
Customer Review: Monkey game Summary: 3 Stars
I ordered this toy for my 4 year old grandson. It is relatively easy to play. The bed is ready to go, you just press it down. A little strategy on where you place the monkeys seems to make a difference which he did not catch onto right away. Perhaps he is just a bit young yet. Collecting the different activity circles was also unimportant to him.
I have since seen a game called Jumpin' Monkeys played by kindergartners in April that seemed very fun and easy. They were able to play it entirely by themselves, with instructions from another kindergartner. This game involved little launchers that seemed easy to use. They launched the monkeys onto a tree that the kindergartner could assemble herself. It seemed everyone met with success while playing. Sorry, I did not look to see the maker of this product. I did notice Amazon also carries this game.
Customer Review: Boring Except for very young children Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this game for the age range child it is designed for - but - it becomes very boring. The tokens you collect become repetitive - pretend to get ready for bed, brush your teeth, put your pj's on, etc. It's all good until you do it for the 10th time and they get thoroughly bored. The monkeys jumping off the bed is the only part they like and they usually get frustrated because it takes too long and just push the button until the bed "jumps" and bounces the monkeys off. I just think it's a lot of money for a game like this when, for the same amount, you can find something much more fun and interesting - even for those who cannot read. It "looks" like it will be fun - but in reality - it becomes boring very quickly.
Customer Review: My 3 year old didn't like it! Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this game based on the other reviews saying how fun it was. We were very disappointed in this game. I agree with the "Disappointed" review, there really is no point to this game. My 3 year old loves to play games, but didn't even want to play this game twice. The game was over before we even went around the board once! The only cute part is when you make the actions of brushing your teeth, going to bed, getting dressed for bed and taking a bath. This is the only reason I gave it two stars instead of one.
This game is going back.
Customer Review: Jumping Monkeys Game Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this game for my family childcare business. The children that played it were 5 and 6. I think the funnest part for them was when the bed would pop up to see how many monkeys would fall off the bed. When four of us were playing, it took awhile for someone to get all four tokens and have four monkeys on the bed. I think they were starting to get bored. Little hands have a hard time putting their monkeys on the bed without knocking over the other monkeys. Overall, I think it is a good game to get out once in awhile.
