Toys and Games Reviews of Colorforms Activity Toys Original 60th Anniversary EditionCustomer Review: A Wonderful Gift Summary: 5 Stars
When I asked my 8 year old granddaughter what she wanted for Christmas she said, "I don't know what they are called and I don't think they make them anymore but they are shapes that stick to a board." I knew what she meant because my kids had spent many enjoyable hours playing with them but I couldn't remember what they were called either. Like many things, it came to me in the middle of the Colorforms!! They aren't as easy to find as they were in the 70's and they aren't as cheap either! I trusted reviewers who said the character colorforms are cheaply made, don't stick and don't last so I went for the original which got very good reviews. I was happy to see that they really are the original, good quality, made to last fun I had hoped for. My granddaughter, a typical 8 year old had forgotten she asked for them so she was really thrilled when she opened them and doubly thrilled that I had remembered and actually found them!! Thank you Amazon for helping this grandma out once again!!
Customer Review: Designed by artists, perfect for making art Summary: 5 Stars
I read that Colorforms were designed in the 1950's by two artists who were looking for a fun way to decorate the walls of their apartment, and the artistic foundation of this product is clear. While Colorforms don't stick to walls, they do stick very lightly to completely smooth, clean surfaces like tile, glass (windows), and whiteboards, and they are so fun for all ages to play with. My 2 year old loves them, and the set is huge: 70 shapes of different sizes in 5 colors, a total of 350 pieces. The set offers great potential for learning about shapes and making imaginative compositions. I showed my child how two triangles can make a star or a diamond when put together in different ways, and she is fascinated. Putting the shapes back in their places is also a fun learning experience. Colorforms allow young children to make designs easily, like a house, that they can't make well with crayons yet. Best of all, Colorforms wipe clean and never wear out. A+
Customer Review: Discovering my inner child.. Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a single 50 something male who lives alone (Kids are grown). I had put up these metal panels, (cooler looking than it sounds) on on of my walls, with the idea of magnetically sticking various artsy things in an ever changing way, just to give my apartment this impromptu sort of hipster look. Somewhere in the middle of the night I awoke with the thought of Colorforms in my head. I was pretty geeked when I found out they were still being manufactured. Even more happy when I found this company had the Original set, and considering free shipping.. a great price. The product delivered as promised, and I've been having fun with them ever since. Guests to my abode are encouraged to create. The only minor complaint was a rather slow ship time, but hey.. it was free shipping.
Thanks for a great deal.
Customer Review: Love the idea Summary: 4 Stars
I find this set to be exactly as the set I played with in the 1970s. The five pages of shapes are in a spiral bound book - there are tons of shapes which is great. My kids, younger than the suggested age at 21 months old, really seem to enjoy this toy - they love stickers, however unlike stickers, Colorforms don't ruin furniture when stuck on wood! Our Colorforms did not stick well to the two included boards at all - in fact, they fell right off. I saw another reviewer mention this as well. I called the manufacturer and they are sending me another set - hopefully these will work better. I am hoping these are isolated incidents and not an overall product problem.
All in all, a good toy with good play value!
