Toys and Games Reviews of Brain Quest GameCustomer Review: Never seen kids compete SO hard to win a game Summary: 5 Stars
The Scene: Five cousins at the end of a B-Day party ages 7 through 11 sitting around a coffee table while I read the cards in order to keep the peace. (Note:There are only 4 tokens in the game, but we have lots of game tokens floating around the house.)
The INSTANT the player being asked the question hesitates, hands go up all around them with kids DYING to show-off their knowledge.
We played by the rules given (except for an adult reading all cards), but I could see how to modify the rules to make it possible to steal the question (think Family Feud) and to add the risk of moving back a space if they player attempting to steal misses.
Loved the way the kids frequently asked for the question for the next grade up (healthy egos here) and frequently pulled it off.
Add to that the parents sitting around (allegedly watching golf)who constantly raised THEIR hand or whispered the answer to each other...or (in the case none of the kids could answer) RACED to shout out the answer!!!
In the end the 7 year old won...pretty cool because she was used to losing against the older kids when they played board games...
Two thumbs up for this one....it was a HUGE hit!
(Special note: Two of the children that played are struggling in school, but they loved playing this game...that's the highest phrase anyone could bestow.)

"Was Claude Monet a painter, a jazz musician, or an Italian dictator?" "Name four of the seven colors in the spectrum." Questions like these are sure to get your child's mental gears meshing while playing the Brain Quest Game for grades one to six. The object is to be the first player to finish a race around the game board, designed to mimic a school playground, by correctly answering questions from the Brain Quest cards. Each of the 256 cards contains questions and answers in categories such as math, science, social studies, English, and grab bag (a euphemism for cultural literacy). Brain Quest's folded cards prevent the I-saw-the-answer-on-the-back problem while allowing even the player asking the question to guess the answer. A great resource for classroom teachers, homeschoolers, and anyone who has enjoyed E.D. Hirsch's books on education (A Dictionary of Cultural Literacy), the Brain Quest Game is a non-threatening yardstick for measuring learning areas that might need attention. It's also the perfect showcase for helping children to display--and feel great about--how much they already know. Younger kids will enjoy the Brain Quest Game for preschool and kindergarten.
