Customer Review: NO FROGS HERE....STILL JUST TADPOLES!
Summary: 1 Stars

This was the biggest waste of time, money and effort! We sent our check for the tadpoles in February 2003 and finally received the frogs in July (very hot in Texas in July!!!!) Fortunately they were both alive. We are now into December of 2003 and yep...still tadpoles. They seem to enjoy their little habitat and they must eat since they are still alive. My daughters have pretty much lost interest and hopefully soon the tadpoles will just die since we are about out of food and they are obviously NOT going to be frogs. Poor little things. This habitat is HORRIBLE, CRUEL to the kids and a HUGE DISSAPPOINTMENT! The company is awful at communication and service. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY OR ENERGY! I can't believe the number of negative reviews I've read on this item. If we had known the tadpoles would forever be tadpoles before we purchased the habitat and the $...tadpoles, we would NEVER have wasted our money to begin with. Our oldest daughter was sooooo excited about this habitat that we even purchased one for her school program called E.P.I.C. (Education Program for the Intellectually Creative) Good thing they never ordered the tadpoles....then we would have 22 more dissappointed kids and of course a Teacher who would probably think she had done something wrong. We will take back the habitat and by the EPIC class something more exciting and worthwhile. ALL IN ALL...DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

Customer Review: Not Worth It, Search For A Better One Elsewhere!
Summary: 1 Stars

I orgionally owned a frog habitat from Backyard Safari owned by Summit. Ribbits Galore provide the tadpoles. Loved it. Then the dog ate the lid. So, since we are always in need of a habitat for various creatures my son hunts, I ordered this product, thinking it would be the same. It was NOT! I searched Target and Toys R Us for new habitats like the one I'd owned, but they disapeared. This was the only one I found online..little pricy, but hey, what is a Mom to do with a frog lover..and I wanted to save my tupperware! This is so flimsy it is like the cheap packaging that comes over a product to protect it. The plastic outside and in is a joke. We never put water in it because I knew it would be only seconds before I would have to mop it off the floor. A huge waste of money..what ever you do, don't buy it, don't be tempted to either. Target started to restock their shelves with the habitat that I origionally owned, so I snached it right up. You can also order from Backyard Safari/Summit products..that would be worth the product. I only wish I could have gotten my money back on this waste of plastic. I can't even pluck out the trees to use in an aquarium..what good is it? Good luck finding what you really want! Oh, and I paid the $6 for a "Free" tadpole that never came...talk about disapointment to the core.

Customer Review: This experience has been wonderful!
Summary: 5 Stars

From the start I was skeptical at best. The tadpoles took a little while to arrive, but I suppose these guys are seasonal. Once they arrived the directions were very clear as to how to prep the tank etc. Any questions I had were answered on their website. Within two weeks one tadpole had the start of his back legs. We received the tadpoles August 27th and it is now one month later and we have two tiny four legged frogs! They are soooo cute. The experience has been mind blowing for our whole family as we rooted them on with the growth of each new appendage! They are now eating live crickets and even that is amazing to see. We had no trouble understanding how to properly care for and maintain the aquarium. I will say that if you are not ready for the daily care required for the tadpoles and the feeding and handling of live crickets, do not bother purchasing. If you are ready for the commitment and can invest another $10 in a cricket keeper, your family will be in for a real experience of scientific value. We took photos during their development and had a really good time with it. I also would only give this as a gift to someone that is really ready for it long term! What a great great idea for a teacher's classroom too!

Customer Review: Happy With Planet Frog So Far.....
Summary: 5 Stars

My 8 year old son purchased Planet Frog Last year in 2005. We went to our local pet store in May of this year (2006) Mother's Day to be exact, and saved 2 Leopard frog tadpoles from being fish food. It is now July and they are very healthy, happy frogs!
My suggestion,... buy them from your local pet store, they are only 99 cents each. Buy the tadpole food they sell and feed them that..we had no problems,my son loved watching them morph within weeks of purchasing, now that they are frogs, we feed them live crickets, moths, earthworms, etc. Do the research and invest a little! We have a holding container for the crickets, feed them their own food with nutrients, so in turn when the frogs eat them they get essential vitamins, etc. As far as the Planet Frog environment...yeah it is a bit flimsy, but it has held so far and is so easy to clean and the frogs seem to really like their living quarters! My son loves "Jackie and Shorty". I know it has only been a couple of months, but I see no problems ahead, maybe only having to buy a new container at some point...but other than that, we have just a couple of well fed froggies!
I am sorry to hear of other people having some problems....but we would do it all again!

Customer Review: Save a frog....don't buy this product!!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

I wouldn't even give this one star, but I had no choice. I bought this for my son 2 years ago because he LOVES frogs! Had I known it would be such a nightmare, I never would have bothered. We decided that instead of ordering the tadpoles, we should go to our local pet store to order a frog and get some information on the proper care of these little creatures. I should have brought this habitat to the pet store so that they could have seen how flimsy it was! They probably would have never sold a frog to us after seeing it. The manufacturer fails to inform you that leopard frogs like to jump....a lot! And they are known for jumping high. First of all, we had to tape the lid down so that he wouldn't get out (and so that our cat wouldn't get in!). He jumped so hard one day that he hit the lid, did a flip and severely injured himself. His little body sort of turned in the middle. He could barely move enough to catch the crickets that we had fed him and even after trying to help him eat, he died. It was a horrible experience for my son to have to go through and I think these death traps should be removed from the shelves immediately!
