My daughter received this rainbow as a gift at 2 1/2. A year later it still works great. It is not easy to see the rainbow in the daylight and ours appears to be a fainter light than shown in picture at night. With that said it is bright enough for us. We both like it a lot. It is a soft light of many colors that looks like a rainbow on the wall. I have not had to change the batteries yet. We don't use it every night but it is turned on about once a week. The light only stays on for about 15 minutes which I like as I don't have to remember to turn it off. I would buy it again.

My daughter wanted to paint her room like a rainbow... "one wall red, one wall orange, one wall yellow", etc... which was a little much for me. So I convinced her to paint her room like the sky (blue with clouds) and we could get a "real" rainbow to cast across the room. She went for it. It doesn't work in the daytime at all, but at night, it's the perfect nightlight. It casts a rainbow light across her ceiling in an arc shape. It times out (turns off by itself), so I don't have to worry about it being on all the time or turning it off. We both really enjoy it.Customer Review: Don't waste your money

VERY disappointed with Rainbow In My Room. It will only project a rainbow (and not whole color spectrum) to a wall within approximately 2 ft of the device. That is not explained on the product description. Box does say "perfect for nightstand or desk" but, also says "now you can project a rainbow on your walls or ceiling" so I bought it hoping to use in my classroom. Not at all practical for that purpose. My granddaughter may enjoy it on her bedside table but that is all it is good for. If I had paid the regular price, I would be asking for my money back!!Customer Review: Prismatic

I ordered this for my daughter's sixth birthday. She's a rainbow nut and totally loves it! It mostly works the way the review states it should. However, the projector no longer turns on/off 'with the wave of your hand' and the 'bonus window prism disk for real daytime rainbows' was not in the box. I called the manufacturer as the instructions state and was told that the 'wave of your hand' feature was the first model and is no longer implemented to save battery life. But it's not the brightest light ever, more intended as a night-light function than anything else. Be warned, I bought this for a friend of mine, and upon opening the box I felt quite silly. I had thought that there would be an AC adapter included, there was not. Luckily someone had some batteries out in their car so we were able to have some rainbow-y fun fairly soon after.
Also, there's no motion in the toy itself, so it's a stationary rainbow on the wall/ceiling. It's a cute toy, worth $20, but not ground-breaking stuff here.
