Toys and Games Reviews of Uncle Milton Moon In My RoomCustomer Review: Son Loves Moon in His Room Summary: 4 Stars
Uncle Milton's Moon is really cool. I used it as a decoration in my son's outer space themed room. We set it on automatic right before bed time, so he is able to watch the moon go through all it's phases as he goes to sleep each night.
I found the instructions a bit lacking. It would be beneficial to have the instructions for the remote control in writing, rather than on the CD that comes in the box.
The CD offers interesting facts about the moon, as well as perspectives on historical and cultural understandings of the moon.
The only negative I can find is that thhe CD says that the moon comes on automatically when the room gets dark, but we have not witnessed that occur.
Customer Review: Good if you understand what you're getting Summary: 3 Stars
I bought Moon In My Room for 50 cents from a mother who said it was broken. Actually, it worked fine.
In the ON position the moon will shut off if light in the room is bright enough, or turn off after a set period of minutes. The problem is, light fluctuates in my child's room throughout the day, causing the moon to turn on throughout the day. The batteries can easily be exhausted in one week, so use rechargeables.
You can resolve the battery issue by remembering to manually turn the moon off using a switch located on its backside... every single morning. If you're prepared for daily maintenance, or weekly battery changes, then this is a great product. My kid loves it.
Customer Review: This thing is awesome!! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this as a packaged deal with the Rainbow in My Room. We gave the moon to my 2 1/2 year old son and the rainbow to my 6 1/2 year old daughter. The moon is awesome! He has always been consumed with the moon- spotting it before anyone else- so we knew he would love this. It is simple to use, easy enough for him to operate himself. He sets it as high or low as he wants it for the night (after playing with it for a couple of minutes). We put batteries in it at Christmas and the batteries have not had to be replaced after using it EVERY single night since.
We love the Rainbow just as much and I would highly recommend both of these toys if your child shows any interest in the outdoors.
Customer Review: Buy the Uncle Milton version not the National Geographic Summary: 5 Stars
The National Geographic version costs more than double and is no different than the Uncle Milton version at a fraction of the cost. The National Geographic version advertised additional items in the box, they were not there. Also the National Geographic one is identical in every way to the Uncle Milton version only it has a generic sticker on the box that says National Geographic, the sticker is a printed out mailing label, what a rip off. The box is Uncle Milton and identical in every way. I returned the National Geographic version and re-purchased the Uncle Milton version. My grandson just loves Moon in my Room, he carried it around until his mother had the opportunity to hange it.
Customer Review: Our moon is glowing Summary: 5 Stars
This item is very nice. It has a shut off on both the moon and the remote. You need 4 AA batteries for the moon, and two AAAs for the remote. I saw in some reviews, that it may use up batteries if you don't turn it off on the moon itself, so I do. Just don't hang it too high, and you can easily reach the switch under the rim. This is for our kid's church class on Wed nights. During movie time, we have it on along with other fiber optic and led lights and lamps, and it was just the perfect thing to add a serene look. The kids love it, people from other classes, including the adults, come by to see it. Somebody's good idea, is our great item! We love this.
