I, uh, am actually 17 years of age and bought this for myself and one for my girlfriend. I have had it since last Christmas and haven't replaced the batteries or had problems with the lights; granted, I don't use it often because I... don't exactly need a night light. I just thought it would be a cool addition to our rooms. Maybe you should keep the remote away from your kids-- I know that's the point of the toy, but likely if they're switching it on and off it's going to run out a lot faster than normal. Like I said, mine still works and it sits on the "ON" position. I don't have any problems with it turning itself on and off, exhausting battery power, either.
I also read some comments complaining that the moon isn't realistic. It looks pretty close to what's outside my window me, just a little more detailed.
It's, uh, awesome... bluntly put.

We got this in with nothing but the product. No interactive CD and not a single instruction. Uncle Milton does not have a easy number for you to call. it is all automated so... I emailed them, to no avail. They sent me a email telling they cared and would get right on this, LIES. I have heard nothing else from them. SCAM, product and lies, purchase. I WOULD NOT BUY THIS AGAIN, ohh, Maybe if it was 5.00, it would then be worth it. Only stays on for a hour and will NOT stay on like a night light. Looks just like a fake moon and neat, however, I am sure we could make the same thing for this price. Save your money, unless, you want a moon, on a nail, with a remote that turns on and last for 1 hr. This product is a joke and a rip off. Good luck! I got this for my 3 year old and 4 year old daughters who share a room. We've been moving around night lights and trying to find a way to make their room less "scary" at night. The problem with the plug in night lights is that they are either too dark in the beginning, when the girls are settling into bed and their eyes are still adjusting, or they are too bright, and keep them from getting deep sleep later in the night. This moon is so fabulous, because it casts a soft glow across the entire room, not just a glare from the electrical outlet in the corner. After 30 minutes, it shuts off, which is the perfect amount of time for the kids to settle in and drift off.
What's even better is that it runs on batteries, so there's no cord hanging down, you can hang it anywhere in the room.

The moon has always been one of my favorite things (thanks to the book Goodnight Moon), so I was so excited when my husband gave me the moon to hang in our room. I know, sweet guy :)
This is actually a really cool toy - it shows all the phases of the moon, which can be changed with a remote control. It will automatically scroll through each phase slowly, or you can select your phase of choice and leave it on that. You can have it so it automatically senses when it is dark and turns on. It also turns off automatically after about half an hour.
Can't wait to put this in my son's room when he's a little older. Or, maybe I'll just keep it. It is pretty awesome.

My toddler son has a great attachment to the moon. So much so that we need to see it every night before going to sleep. Unfortunately, the laws of the Universe do not allow us to see the moon in the sky every night. Thanks to Uncle Milton Moon, we have successfully solved the problem. We now have the moon in our bedroom and the boy gets to wish his friend good night before going to sleep. He also has an understanding of the waxing and waning of the moon which is nice.
Since we don't use it for very long, the battery life issue is not a problem for us. I changed batteries on the remote, 3 months after daily use.
I cant talk for the fun and educational value of the product quite yet, but for what we want it to do, it does the job very well.
Great product for kids!
