Toys and Games Reviews of Star Wars Science - Dagobah Frog HabitatCustomer Review: Frogtastic! *but you have to pay shipping for the frog* Summary: 5 Stars
Call me a nerd but there is nothing cooler than seeing your pet frog hanging out with yoda in the swamps of Dagobah. The little hut provides a great place for the frog to chill out, we have small kids so the frog escapes to the hut when there is too much going on outside his tank. There is a good amount of dry and wet area and the frog seems very content. The graphics combined with the molded land, hut and Yoda figure really does look fantastic, making it the best looking critter tank I've ever seen.
Big drawback... on top of the expense of the habitat you still have to pay shipping for a tadpole... I was a bit outraged by this as it wasn't made clear in the product description. We decided to hit the local pet store instead as it was cheaper than paying the shipping.
Customer Review: Not suitable for frogs Summary: 1 Stars
After months of taking great care of the tadpole it was finally looking like a frog. Something about the habitat inhibits their ability to put themselves above the water. We have had two frogs drown because they were too afraid or incapable of bringing themselves onto the landing. We just bought crickets yesterday ready to deliver his first live meal when my son woke up this morning to find that his second frog had died exactly the same way the first had... stuck under the landing and unable to hoist onto land. We made sure water levels were correct and did everything by the book after the first one died, but still the same result. I recommend going to a pet store and getting a habitat which will slope up with rocks for a more natural environment.
Customer Review: Science can be FUN! Summary: 5 Stars
This "toy" is one of the best I have seen for the tadpoles which will turn into frogs BECAUSE the top part is slightly tilted so that the frogs can easily enter dry land. I get tadpoles every year, for the neighborhood kids as well as my own, to watch so I have had a few different types of tanks. This one I am very pleased with... The star wars theme adds such a fun touch for the kids and has a hide out for the frogs as well. I feel you can buy this with confidence it will bring your loved one hours of fun as well as a lesson in science. I usually find my own tadpoles but I sent away for the tadpoles (coupon included, you pay for shipping) I have not received them yet. So I can't report on that part.
Customer Review: Not at all happy Summary: 1 Stars
Got this as a gift for my son last year. First of all, you had to order the tadpole separately and pay for it. Second, it's too big for a tiny tadpole. We had also gotten a much smaller habitat that included a coupon for a tadpole, so we did that first because as the instructions for it said, you have to maintain a careful ecosystem for the little guy, and it was much easier to keep an eye on him in a small clear box. When he sprouted legs we moved him to the Dagobah habitat. THe middle cave level floated, moved, tilted, and sank at the slightest touch, and I was afraid it was going to hurt the little guy, and then the zinger: it leaked!!! All in all not happy with this. At all.
Customer Review: Fun frog tank Summary: 4 Stars
Got this too for around half the normal price...not sure I'd like to pay any more for it TBH, just for the Dagobah theme...
Although I have not yet set this up with the tadpoles, I see no problems with it. Constructed well enough and a good design idea to show how they develop (from tadpoles swimming under the swamp to frogs climbing out and visiting Yoda and his house) Instructions and tips info are clear.
Tadpoles can be purchased with an included order form for $7 each. I would imagine aquariums and pet stores would be better to purchase from....and cheaper!
