I bought this for my son as a Christmas gift when he was 5. It functions exactly as it's description implies. You can choose military or American time. There is also a function that turns off the projection light after 15 min. I coupled this gift with the Uncle Milton Moon in my room and we really like that as well. I think either would make great gifts for kids (esp. boys) between the ages of 3 and 12.

The Night Sky Projector Clock boldly brings time and space into any room. Project the time, along with one of three space images, on the ceiling or wall of any room. The clock includes interchangeable stars, planet and moon projection slides, plus an alarm with snooze functions. Requires one 9V battery, not included.
