Toys and Games Reviews of Usaopoly Simpsons MonopolyCustomer Review: A lot of fun for Simpsons' fans Summary: 4 Stars
It's great fun to warp into Springfield and buy up properties like Moe's Tavern, Cletus's shack, and Barney's Bowl-a-rama. The only reason I didn't give this five stars was because I thought they should have kept the houses & hotels the same. Instead, they call them "monorail stops" and I think that's confusing, given the monorail is the railroad, and if you're thinking in terms of regular Monopoly, and you're playing with kids, they get confused. That's worth about 1/2 a star. The other 1/2 star was deducted because not only can you not give a half star on Amazon, but because there are some key characters missing and we thought they could have been done a little better. Example: Bart is shown in his derby car. This is great! He mirrors the racecar in regular Monopoly. Same goes for Santa's Little Helper - he's a character as well. However, Lisa is shown holding flowers. When you think of Lisa, you think saxophone, not flowers. We think she should have been portrayed with the sax. And we think it would have been better to have Marge w/ Maggie in a shopping cart (kind of like the wheelbarrow on regular Monopoly). The one great thing about the game is you have the opportunity to purchase a group of other characters -- Mr Burns, Lisa, Marge w/ Maggy, & Otto. One thing that would have been greater would be to include the opportunity to purchase even more characters, like Grandpa, Patty & Selma (bonded together, of course), Smithers, Sideshow Bob, etc.. Overall, this game is a lot of fun. We found that we are less cutthroat when we are playing this version than regular Monopoly. I mean, how vicious can you be when the "luxury tax" is donating to the church, and the income tax is giving to the mob?
Customer Review: Exxxcellent!!!! Summary: 4 Stars
This is an extremely great version of what is the greatest board game ever created. The rules are of course exactly the same but the Simpsons properties, money, Chance and Community Chess cards and everything else make it a fresh experience. The fact that the game board and game tokens are monorail themed does date it a little reducing it to a four and a half star rating. I would have preferred it wasn't that way with just the four train stations monorail themed. It is still great though but I would also like to have seen more game tokens of the other family members especially Grandpa and Maggie, and also other characters like Mr Burns in addition or instead of the doughnut. They could have also put Snake in the jail cell on that corner of the board rather than the traditional Monopoly criminal icon and Chief Wigum on the Go to Jail Square but maybe I'm just being picky.
This is an excellent gift idea for anyone who even only occasionally enjoys the Simpsons and a must for anyone who is a fan. Also recommended to enjoy the game even more is Monopoly Companion The Players Guide by Philip Orbanes. This book will refresh the rules and save arguments and even teach you some, such as I never knew the number of houses was limited for a reason so that you could strategise and not buy hotels to stop someone else with a set from building. Just buy the game, you won't be disappointed!
Customer Review: There is a God Summary: 5 Stars
I collect Monopoly board games. This is by far the most beautiful Monopoly game ever. If you are a Simpson fan that's a bonus. The board features almost every place in Springfield from the Kwik-E-Mart to Mr. Burns Manor. You could spend hours looking at every little and totally hilarious details. The game tokens are very nice plus you have the option to purchase other limited edition game tokens which are very cool by the way. The property deeds are a work of art. And on plus side if you have children and want to interest them in math and strategy while having fun you can not go wrong with this one. One more thing; if you do deside to purchase this game and plan on using it you better buy more than one or you will find yourself making your friends wash their hands before they could even think of touching it. Do yourself a favor and buy this game. Have fun.
Customer Review: Great game Summary: 5 Stars
I got this game as a Christmas gift. When my 4- and 6-year olds bothered me to play it, I was afraid it was too 'old' for them.I was wrong. They really enjoy playing the game, and get into the fantasy of buying the places. (The bowling alley is a particular favorite.) And I rediscovered something about playing Monopoly: IT'S A GAME! When I was a kid, I remember being terrified of trading with people; I was sure I'd get the short end of whatever the trade was. So I'd sit on my hands and rarely trade. With my kids, I have a much more free-wheeling approach to trades and it helps a lot: the game goes faster, it's easier to get monopolies and it's just generally more interesting. They're too young for some of the advanced rules (we don't mortgage), but it's still a fun way to spend an evening.
Customer Review: The best game out Summary: 5 Stars
I aint kidding when I say this is the brightest, most colorful, most well designed Monopoly game out today. I have collected a few over the years but this one really puts a smile on your face. The board has a map of Springfield in the centre, if you look closer you can spot each character walking about the town. The Chance and Community Chest cards have Homer, Bart etc in place of the Monopoly man, the properties go from the tire yard and Cletus' shack (the cheapest) to the Country Club and Burns manor (the dearest) The pewter peices are very finely detailed, and there's an offer to buy four more. Also the property cards have Simpsons artwork on both sides. If your going to buy a Monopoly game, it really has to be this one.
