CLASSICAL & ROMANTIC COMPOSERS is a family card game (age 8 and up) about music history and European composers of the 18th and 19th centuries. These educational playing cards have been printed with 13 composers' portraits, some interesting biographical notes about the composers' lives and times, and the titles of 52 famous works of Western classical music. Each card is also illustrated with music notation showing a key theme or passage from the work.
The composers and the music titles are from the late "Baroque" period (Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frederick Handel), the Age of Enlightenment's "Viennese Classic" period (Franz Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven) and the "Romantic" period (Franz Schubert to Edvard Grieg). Most of these composers studied or lived, at one time or another, in Leipzig or Imperial Vienna.
This is a wonderful teaching game from, of all places, the United States. Music-reading ability is not required. Rules are in English.
