I bought this item last christmas for my 10 year old cousin. I know they are marketed to much younger girls, but in the 80's they were all marketed to older girls, and my cousins (now) 8 and 11, and their friends, spend hours playing with them. The 2 pony set is a great value, and the pony hair is very well rooted and stands up to lots of brushing and styling. Also, it does not knot or tangle nearly as easily as Barbie Doll hair. The only complaints I have is that, over time, the glitter on the ponys' behinds tends to flake off. Also, the pictures here on the website make Starbeam look sort of greenish blue or turquoise, when in reallity she is bright electric blue, and not quite as cute. Her actual body color clashes with her mane and tail and makes her look kind of tacky. If your child likes ponies, I would reccommend this. I would also recommend nearly every MLP product, because they are of high quality. DO NOT buy knock offs or cheap MLP immitations. They cost less up front, but do not last like MLP.

Sweet Desert Rose wants to fill everyone's life with flowers, and always has a pretty blossom to give to her friends. Sweet scents always fill the air when Desert Rose is around! Can you count all the stars? Starbeam can...or at least she's trying. One night she got up to 127 stars, but then she fell asleep, so the next night she started all over again! Ponies are wonderful friends! They love to play together and have exciting adventures. They're also good listeners, and are always ready to help a friend who needs their support. Every year the ponies celebrate their friendships at a magical ball, where one special pony is named Best Friend of the Year! You can add these ponies to any of the other My Little Pony playsets (sold separately), and their magnetic hooves will trigger the various moving components in each playset. The ponies also come with color-coordinated brushes so you can come and style their long, flowing manes.My Little Pony enthusiasts will be in horsy heaven if they can get two in one pack! Each 4.5-inch high Pony has a personality unique to scores of others to be found in "Ponyville." Pretty, blue Starbeam is obsessed astronomy, for example, and pink-trimmed Desert Rose follows flora and fauna where ever it can be found. The duo is a bit more fancy and pampered than regular Ponies, too, with embellishments on their hooves as well as their hips. They're headed to the "Friendship Ball." They both have the same large eyes, decorated bodies, and flowing, colorful manes and tails that all Ponies share. The best parts of a Pony are the trademark, stylin' parts, of course.
