Toys and Games Reviews of Fur Real Friends Luv Cubs - Polar Bear

Customer Review: Polar Bear cub - not what I'd hoped
Summary: 3 Stars

After reading several other reviews, and having my daughter BEG for the toy based on the TV ads, I bought the Polar Bear (I think the Panda is cuter, but couldn't find it). I got it on sale - regularly nearly $50.00, but I got it for under $30. Honestly, I feel it is worth what I spent, but would have a serious problem paying any more than that. The details of the paws and so on are cute, but the face isn't very "sweet" - My husband said it was a bit 'creepy'. I didn't expect it to be really soft and plush, so that was no problem - but the batteries and on/off switch really ARE awfully inconvenient, as mentioned in other reviews. The toys movements are not nearly as realistic as they looked on TV - "peekaboo" and "holding the bottle" require a lot of imagination. The sounds it makes aren't particularly appealing either - my 11 year old describes it as "whiny and irritating" (she also thinks the brown bear looks warmer and more appealing). The bottom line is that my 6 year old likes the toy, but doesn't play with it as much as I had expected, and I expect it will be lost at the bottom of the toy bin before long.

Customer Review: Cute bear!
Summary: 4 Stars

I just got this cute polar bear for my 3yr.old daughters birthday. She saw it at the store & wanted it so bad but I could not see paying $32 for it. After finding it on sale alot cheaper, I bought it for her.
She loves this bear so much! I agree that the motor is a bit loud when the arms move. The cutest thing we think it does, is when it starts making slurping noises when feeding it, he/she sometimes gets the hiccups afterwards. When I first saw this toy I thought it would do alot more, esp for the price I first saw it at. IMO I do not think it's worth more than $20. The legs do not move on their own. He does move his arms & moves his ears, head & snout a little bit. He doesn't really make alot of different sounds. His favorite to make is a whooping sound. One thing that kinda gets annoying after awhile of hearing, is the snorting (just like a pig) he makes while laughing when he's getting tickled.
I would buy this toy again b/c my daughter loves it & it is so cute!

Customer Review: What an Amazing Toy!! My Daughter is in Heaven!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought the Fur Real Polar Bear (I wanted the Panda, but that appears to be sold out all over the place) for my daughter to store away as a Christmas present. Well, her birthday was recently, so I of course broke down and gave it to her.

I am so glad I did. I have never seen a 2 year old so full of joy as when she holds this bear. It hugs her, it plays peek-a-boo with her, it purrs, and once in awhile when she hands it to me for safekeeping while she eats dinner or something, it'll whine, and then she will come running over and shoot me the Look of Death for making her bear cry, and she'll rip it out of my hands and hug it to pieces saying over and over, "I'm sorry bear!! It'll be OK! It'll be alright!!" And then she'll storm off, really upset that I was such a bad babysitter for Baby Bear.

Anyway - my point is, it turned her into such an adorable little mommy, a role she seems to LOVE. I couldn't recommend this toy more if I tried. It's wonderful!

Customer Review: Cheap, clunky and a little creepy
Summary: 1 Stars

My daughters each got one of these for Christmas last year and they've played with them a grand total of...oh, about one hour in the past six months.

The battery compartment is extremely hard to access, likewise the on/off switch. Battery installation caused much frustration in our house. Once the toy IS switched on, it doesn't get any better. The bears make strange clicking, cooing, sucking sounds that are supposed to be endearing, but frankly, are a little creepy. It sounds like a cross between a pig and an adult talking baby talk.

As for cuddle-ability, forget about it. The fur is soft enough, but the body is square, hard, and clunky. It's kind of like trying to snuggle a toaster. Honestly, my kids haven't played with them enough for me to rate durability, but the bears rattle when they're moved and the paws are droopy and seem flimsy. I wouldn't expect they'd last long with regular play.

Save your money.

Customer Review: A NO NO FOR YOUNGER ONES! PLEASE READ ON!
Summary: 1 Stars

My 3 year old loves bears, adores them so my brother purchased this bear for her thinking he was doing a good thing, well when we took it out of the box I think it scared me as much as her, perhaps she was too young but it terrified her.I gave the bear a high durability rating because it reminds me of something NASA may have created.
The bear reminds me of the gremlins. It is not cute but scarey,I had to put the bear outside my daughter was petrified and I cant much blame her..It was rather eiry. The bottle did nothing It felt like you were giving the bear an enima The bear did not respond, never the less it ended up back in a Toys R Us return pile, I am not saying this bear is horrible for everyone perhaps someone else may adore it but be careful what you wish for Make sure your child responds well.My daughter will not go near a bear I had to take all her stuffed bears out of her room,It really terrified her...
