My daughter, now seven, is in an advanced reading class. I thnk part of that reason is we encourage her to read and a big part of that was her using the leappad. This was one of many "books" that has helped to fuel her joy of reading. Plus, I get a kick out of the fact that I grew up enjoying Scooby Doo cartoons and now my daughter likes Scooby too.

Zoinks! Donuts are disappearing from the Doodles Donut Shop. Scooby and the gang follow the trail of crumbs in this big donut mystery. Kids just place the book on the LeapPad player, pop in the cartridge, and touch any page with the Magic Pen to bring learning to life. This book also works with the LeapPad Plus Writing learning system and the Quantum Pad learning system."Rut-roh!" There's nothing more frightening to Scooby-Doo than losing his munchies. Kids can help him and his human companions figure out a culinary mystery using LeapPad's multisensory, experiential learning interface. In Scooby-Doo and the Disappearing Donuts, kids see, hear, say, and touch throughout the book, making it easier to retain and enhance oral, vocabulary, and phonics skills while developing concrete reading-comprehension skills.
It's simple to use (just insert the cartridge and book into a LeapPad, and use the attached stylus to hear information), but this system is an innovative technology that provides entertaining, effective learning, designed by a Stanford-trained reading expert. As well, the system has been credited with the TMA's Educational Toy of the Year and People's Choice awards.
Two notes: Make sure the LeapPad book you get is appropriate for the child's educational level; this one should be a challenge for kids up to age 6. As well, know that some LeapBooks work on both LeapPad and LeapPad Pro, like this one, but some books only work with one system. --Diane Beall
