Customer Review: WAY TOO FRUSTRATING!!

I agree 100% percent with all the negative reviews..great idea that needs the glitches worked out. Problems were non-stop... She never recognized my daughter's voice more than once or mine..she wouldn't respond correctly to my daughters commands, she needed new batteries after only 2x playing with her...new set ran out super fast as well($6 bucks each time!) My daughter(5 1/2) had to practically scream inches from her face..the doll constantly says "you don't sound like my mommy" or "repeat that mommy I can't hear you" to " my batteries are low" or would do not do the command my daughter asked it to. If your child has a voice that rises or falls at all the doll will not recognise them and you have to reset them which is many steps to do. House has to be without ANY background noise for her to respond. Way too frustrating for a child of any age or even for us moms. I loved the concept though..shame the promises are too good to be true for real life. My daughter cried way too much:(Customer Review: I have an extremely disappointed little girl

This doll is not what my daughter or I expected. My daughter is 6 and speaks very clearly as do I (being an adult that is to be expected) BUT Amanda didn't recognize my daughters voice more than once. Amanda recognized my voice occasionally but I am not going to be the one playing with the doll, so that really doesn't matter much. My daughter also didn't feel that playing with Amanda was much fun either. Amanda would ask what you wanted to do and then you would tell her one of four phrases which my daughter felt got old and boring. I am not here to persuade you to buy the doll or not to buy the doll. I am letting everyone know that the doll isn't all that it is made out to be. For some little girls Amazing Amanda might be wonderful but for my daughter she just was not. My hope is that they eventually in the near future fix the glitches in Amazing Amanda and all the little girls that got let down from previously owning Amanda will finally get to enjoy "Amazing" Amanda.Customer Review: NEVER EVER AGIAN!!!!

This was the "mom I have to have it" toy for my then 4 year old daughter's 5th birthday.
I figured 5 is a big birthday so I'd get her the doll even though it has a BIG price tag. Figured if the doll does everything it is said to do then it is worth the money.
Well... My daughter played with this for maybe 5 minutes. (after the inital 25 minute set up) Amanda kept saying "You don't sound like Mommy." and "When will mommy be home?"
This made my daughter very angry. She tossed the doll on her bed and I think she's played with it 2 times since. Both times ending the same way. After a few minutes of "you don't sound like mommy". Amanda gets tossed on the bed and Sydney picks up a "Normal" doll.
My daughter accidently woke Amanda up the other day (she's been sleeping since October) and my child screamed like someone was trying to hurt her. That's how much she hates this doll..
Mine is getting listed on Ebay.
Customer Review: Amazing and Cute!

I too at first was afraid to purchase this after reading bad reviews...but we didn't want a messy "Baby Alive" doll so decided what the heck we'd give this a try for our 5 year old daughter. Well, this is her favorite gift from Santa this past Christmas! Apparently the company has fixed the glitches because she works GREAT!! The doll was so easy to program - we lost the instructions but all we had to do was read the Amazing Allysen instructions again (older daughter received her as a gift unfortunately) and 5 minutes later she was ready to play. She always recognizes my daughter's voice and the games, eating and even the potty thing is so cute and funny! My daughter loves her and once in awhile she'll get mad at her if she doesn't understand her but I just have to tell her to take her into the other room where it's quiet and wait a second before she speaks to her.
Too bad the Amazing Allysen doll isn't anywhere near as good as this doll!!
Customer Review: Some You Win, Some You Lose

We bought one of these dolls at X-Mas for a grandchild who is very bright. The doll was almost spooky it seemed so real. She enjoyed it and has had no issues with it. Based on that experience, we bought another one for a different granddaughter. What a different situation entirely. This one wouldn't get through the programming without messing up. The poor child was almost traumatized by the whole process of being told "Mommy, that doesn't sound like you!". It was sad to see this little girl get so frustrated and upset over a silly doll. What can I say, we had a winner and we had a loser. I assume things will work themselves out in the programming soon enough. Luckily I have no other granddaughters who want one so I won't be able to see which way this goes. But for the money, I think they might have shipped them out after the bugs were worked out instead of before. I also noticed one doll took less batteries than the other, very odd.
