Toys and Games Reviews of Amazing AmandaCustomer Review: Beware Summary: 1 Stars
I felt compelled to let parents know how poor of a product this is, and how the company does not respond to concerns about this product. My daughter was so excited to recieve this toy. However her joy soon turned to tears. This product takes forever to set up, even as a clear speaking parent. The doll worked for less Than an hour before she started basically doing her own thing. She didn't respond correctly to any of her accessories. She is supposed to recognize them. By the first evening the paint from the rims of her eyelids had basically rolled off onto her cheek, which made her really creepy looking and by the next day her lips peeled off. The doll has basically an alarm clock in her, so that she wakes up at the approximate time that your child does. However, she kept opening her eyes in the middle of the night and talking. She scared my daughter so badly, that by the 3rd time she was afraid to have it in her room. I tried to contact the company several times and recieved no response. I'm sure that they have had so many complaints about this product that they have tuned the consumer out. Please think twice before purchasing this product.
Customer Review: DON'T BUY THIS DOLL Summary: 1 Stars
They should rename her "AWFUL AMANDA". My 6-year-old daughter has extremely clear diction but every time she said "Let's Play" Amanda responded that she didn't need to go to the potty, or some such thing. Leaving my daughter extremely frustrated. She often told my daughter that she didn't sound like her mommy...can you imagine my 6-year-old got rejected by her own doll!!! Her lips peeled off completly, next her eyelash fell off, then she completely conked out (may she Rest in Peace)...all this within 3 weeks and, trust me, minimal playtime. Plus, this is one needy doll (and I'm the single mother of 3 children under 7, so I know needy). They should re-market this doll to teenagers to bring down the pregnancy rate. 24 hours with Amanda is all it should take. Honestly, this is such an inferior product (for a hefty $99 price tag) Amazon should ditch it from their web site - it has to be their biggest headache of the Holiday season. Do yourself a favor and buy a Gotz doll and a couple of outfits for the same price. Our "Awful Amanda" is on the way back to Amazon and my daughter's new Gotz doll is sleeping peacefully next to her in bed right now.
Customer Review: This doll is really amazing! Buy her now! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a fab doll! My daughters have all the dolls that you can imagine, like baby annabell and baby born. We also have amazing ally but she is nowhere near as sweet as amanda! Amanda is just like a real little girl, she is a pretty typical little girl who makes noises, cries and shows her emotions. She is dressed in a cute dress and also comes with her nightie which is adorable too. She also has a number of food items, including an oreo cookie and pasta etc. She is a typical blonde, blue eyed american little girl who is the ideal size of a toddler. She will be your best friend and care and listen to your problems and will hug you to make you feel happy again! She will sing to you and let you play games with her and she will also tell you fun stories! She also goes to sleep at the same time as you so you dont have to listen to her talking all night! Buy this doll now, although she costs quite a bit of money she is well worth it as she will be your long lasting best friend forever even when your feeling blue and snappy! BUY HER NOW!!We have to buy another amanda doll as one is simply not enough as all my daughters want her as a best buddy!
Customer Review: Amazing? The price sure is! Summary: 1 Stars
My son begged and begged for this doll. He is 5 and LOVES babies and baby dolls. We used it for the 5th time today, and already the voice is choppy (breaking up). He has hardly used this doll since he received it on Christmas, not because he hasn't wanted to. He tries to use her, but he can't keep from speaking too soon for the doll to recognize. He can't remember to only say, "YES, NO, or OK" but rather uses complete sentence answers, which the doll doesn't understand. We had got Amazing Ally for our daughter, and this doll is MUCH less complicated than the ALLY doll, but any child attentive enough to be able to interact with this doll within the limit's of it's technology would probably be too old to appreciate it. Playing with this doll is frustrating for everyone in the house, including my 8 year old daughter, who can manage to use it right, but finds it BORING.
He plays very happily with his Big Sister Dora Doll (which comes with 2 baby siblings and some accessories), It has no voice recognition or sophisticated technology, and it costs only around $20.
Amazing Amanda is not worth $100. Save your money.
Customer Review: GREAT BARGAIN Summary: 5 Stars
After reading all the negative reviews about Amanda AFTER i had bought her for my daughter for christmas i was terrified i had wasted all that money. Whether i am one of the lucky ones i don't know but i have had no problems with her, yes the programming is a bit of a nuisence but just say yes to everything she says and you;re well away. She sometimes doesn't recognise my daughters voice but after the second attempt she seems to. She kind of puts me in mind of Chucky but my daughter is happy with her and i would say it was money well spent, i don't think she takes any more or less battery power than many of the toys on the market as long as you use good quality ones to start with. My daughter still plays with her now 4 months after christmas and how many toys can you say has that kind of treatment?
So yes its a big outlay but you definitely get your moneys worth from her in the long run, the only problem now is that my [...]son tries to play with her as well, don't think i could cope with 2 amandas all wanting the potty at the same time. LOL. By the way, the adults have a good giggle when she's not in time for the potty.
