Customer Review: Realistic looking child-sized toy violin

My five year old daughter plays the violin, and her two year old brother is always begging her to let him try it. Rather than let him "try out" her real violin, I found this one. I debated between the sturdier/ heavier, colorful, unrealistic looking toy violin also on amazon, or this one. In the end, I decided on this one because it is much more realistic, even though it is a bit more delicate. Santa brought it on Christmas morning, and it was a big hit-- not only with my son, but also with my daughter! I was surprised to read the reviews that the violin was "too small." The size measurements were listed on the ordering page (at least they were when I ordered, so there was no surprise on my end). In comparing it to my daughter's 1/8 size violin, it is just barely smaller than that. It is just the right size for little hands and arms. My son loves pushing the button to play the songs, pulling the bow across the strings to keep the songs going, and even plucking the strings. The songs are good, and even include a couple songs from the Suzuki violin method. What drove me to write a review on it, though, was the fact that it lasted through the stomach flu-- my son carries it with him, and after being stricken with the stomach flu about a week after Christmas, he still refused to put down the violin. As he got sick, the violin was on his lap and took a hit. However, even after that, as well as a washing, drying and disinfecting, it still works!!! So, if you have a budding violinist in the family, and are looking for a realistic toy, I would give this one fair consideration.
