Customer Review: one of the best toys for our newborn

As a new mom, I couldn't wait to play with my new son. I guess was a little naive, but I assumed he would be interested in rattles, storybooks, toys, etc, right from the start. So I was a little disappointed when all he did was eat and sleep. After about a month though, he started noticing bright colors, shapes, etc. and this activity mat became one of our favorite interactive activities. At 3 months now, he still doesn't really care either way about the music and lights, but he loves the hanging animals. His favorite is the elephant, because it can be pulled right down to his level. He is starting to bat at the toys (whether intentional or not, I'm not sure). We use this mat every day and he will lay on it for up to 30 minutes. We now use it for tummy time as well, but I think he likes being on his back better.
One note - when I first started using the mat, I didn't bother with directions - it seemed pretty self explanatory...so I missed a really cool feature. The 2 arcs snap at the top and can be unsnapped so that they fold down - a much easier way of picking up baby without having to maneuver around the arcs. It took me 2 months to find that time saver!

Originally, I did not intend to purchase a baby gym like this one, but my mom bought it for us and both my son and I are glad that she did. When he was around 2 months old, he liked to be on his back and look up at the colorful toys. Now that he is almost 5 months, he loves to kick at the toys and grab for them.The gym is colorful, has lots of different (and detatchable) toys. Some move, some make noise - giving baby lots of fun choices. The gym also has a mirror and can play music that is set to lights. The music comes on two settings - one where the toy plays Mozart continuously. On the other setting, a nursery rhyme plays when a certain part of the mat is pushed. My only gripe (and not a big one) is that it is really hard to activate the music that way - my son can do it with other toys, but not with this one.
The toy is easy to put together and take apart, making it easy to bring along with you for a day trip, which is a nice feature.
One of the greatest things is that it sits on the ground, so you do not have to worry about falls. I can leave my son on the mat and do chores around his room without having to have eyes on him every second. A good purchase!

I love this Gym! We recieved this toy as a gift when I was pregnant and I was excited to use it, so I put my baby to play when he was just 3 week old (really!). He started looking the colorfull toys and three weeks later he was trying to get them. When he was 2 months he reached the giraffe's leg. I've seen his brain developing right before my eyes thanks to this toy. He started to reach out for all toys (7 week), he started noticing himself in the mirror (9 week old), bringing things to his mouth (10 week old), and now (16 week) he's starting to try to get the toys with his feet. It's a great toy: excelent for your baby development and give you free minutes (30, even 60 a day!) to yourself.

Now my baby is 10mo and he doesn't like to play with gyms anymore since he was 7-8mo but I'll storage for my next coming baby. It's an excellent gym.

I got this Gym in 2003. Now, 4 years later, my 'baby' is 4 years old and his sister (3 years old) also used that Gym and after 4 babies that had used the gym, it still looks like new. Really! I use to wash frequently and even so the Gym still works fine.

I have two other gym mats for my son, but this one is far superior. This mat provides the most for the money. I wish I had bought it sooner! I waited until my son was 5 months old before I bought it. My son LOVES it! He plays in it all the time, and he's 8 months old now! He scoots around the rest of his room too, but he always comes back to his Gymini. They really know what entertains babies; there's a reason for all of the wonderful reviews on this gym. The design is superb. It entertains him for hours. The mat has interesting textures built into it. The elephant's ear and the butterfly both crinkle. The zebra's mane and giraffe's tail have a soft, furry texture. The flowers that light up and play music delight my son. The toys that come with it are vibrant and appealing too. Like someone else mentioned, they each have a unique quality to intrigue baby. As an added bonus, the company that makes this mat is wonderful. We lost the parrot, which was one of my son's favorite toys. I called the company to see if I could buy a replacement. They are sending me one for free! This is one of the BEST baby items I have purchased. Well worth the money.

We received this as a shower gift (hadn't even registered for it) 5 years ago for our first baby. Used it with our 2nd baby. After that couldn't bear to part with it even when we weren't sure whether we were going to have another... so glad we didn't give it away because we decided to have a 3rd baby. This is a GREAT little activity gym... our first two children started using it as soon as they were a few weeks old and were able to see the hanging animals clearly enough. Watched our 1stborn learn to roll over while on it, and 2ndborn had her first active grabbing experience with it. Was an even more fun diversion when they both were learning to stay sitting up. Obviously not as interesting once they started learning to crawl, but with each we got a good 6-7 mos of use. The four little hanging animals are detachable, so if it's too "busy" you can leave on as many or as little as you think necessary. Has just enough music, lights and tactile stimulation as not to be too overwhelming for baby. Has also held up well in multiple washings, and folds up nice and flat for easy storage. Cannot wait to use it with our 3rd when he arrives and is ready!
