Toys and Games Reviews of Tiny Love Super Deluxe Lights and Music Gymini Activity GymCustomer Review: Glad I got it Summary: 5 Stars
I am not the type to pay this much for a toy but I found it second hand. After having it, I do think it's worth it's money IF you get it early enough. It's important to get these type of toys early..long before they crawl if you want your money out of them. What I've noticed the most is how my daughter is progressing. At first, just the mirror kept her attention when she was 6 weeks. After a month has passed, she now reaches for the toys. Now she will sit and reach for them and pull them or kick them and just giggle and talk to herself...letting me have 15 mins of peace to take care of something.
What makes this one different from the rest is that there also is music. The mozart it plays is decent but the nursery tunes are annoying only in the fact that you have to keep touching the mat to get a different one to play when one is finished..the mozart one keeps playing. For now, until she can sit up and pat the mat, we just keep it on mozart. I assume when she is old enough to sit up on her own, she'll pat the mat herself. The mat is cute, it shows lights through flowers while the music is playing. My dogs love this gym more than my baby I think haha..I have to keep telling them to leave it alone.
The mat stopped working almost immediately. I wrote tiny love and can't tell you how wonderful enough their customer service is. I explained the mat had stopped working and they sent me another one free of charge within the week!
We are back to enjoying it. Definitely worth the buy out of all the things I've got for her. The only other toy that comes close to being worth this type of cash is the smartsteps evenflo exersaucer.
Customer Review: So many things for your baby to discover Summary: 5 Stars
This toy is a great value. For the first 4 months we used it every day. After 8 months our son still plays with it. It was such a pleasure to see him discover so many things for the first time playing with this toy.
* At 2 months he would just study the animals hanging above.
* At 3 months he started to reach for the toys. He especially liked the multi colored feet on the Giraffe. He also liked to fondle the crinkly wings of the parrot and ears of the elephant.
* At 4 months he started kicking and discovered the noise the elephant ear on the mat makes, and the squeaker in the bird. He also kicked at the hanging toys and pulled at them - sometimes pulling them off their rings. He also rolled over to look at himself in the mirror, tugging on the back to look behind it.
* At 5-6 months he regularly rolled over, and began to play with the elephant ear with his hands. He discovered the flowers that light up and play music - and even figured out how to work the music controls.
* At 7 months he started to play with other toys so I put the mat away, but he still played with the detachable animal toys. He especially still liked the crinkly ears on the elephant.
* At 8 months I took the mat back out and he now crawls to it from across the room to play. He mainly plays with the mat (not the hanging toys) and the mirror.
* At 9-10 months I put the mat in the attic, but he still plays with the rings and detachable toys.
In addition to being an engaging toy, it is very well designed.. with bright colors, washable mat, snaps for folding up for storage/transport, well-made with secure stitching.
Customer Review: A MUST FOR YOUR NEW BABY Summary: 5 Stars
This is by far the greatest gift we got! I don't know what I would have done without this! My daughter loved it so much. I first put her in it when she was 3 weeks old and she stared at the animals so intently. She would smile so big at the giraffe... It was too cute. It encouraged her to reach, swat, kick and grab at objects very quickly. And the mirror on the corner helped encourage her to roll over at an early age. The arches are removable (and should be removed once your baby can sit up) and the mat & toys are machine washable. It folds up nicely and I kept the original plastic bag it came in for traveling. Again, this is sooooo worth the money!! I would move the toys around all the time. And she loved the different textures. The giraffe and monkey are rattles, the parrot crinkles, and the elephant vibrates. There's another rattle and mirror too. She loved chewing on the monkey and giraffe feet! Perfect size for a little mouth :-)The mat itself has a crinkly elephant ear, zebra tail, squeeky bird, and musical flowers that light up. You can put the music on yourself, or they go on when your baby puts pressure on the music pad. The ONLY negative is that when it folds up, the "good side" of the mat and toys are exposed, instead of folding the opposite way. But if you save the original bag, it's not a big deal. I can't say enough about this - it helped me occupy my baby for hours. I just loved laying next to her while she played - or knew that she could entertain herself while I relaxed nearby. It has been a favorite for months - adapting to her development!! DEFINATELY BUY!!!
Customer Review: Versatile and effective Summary: 5 Stars
I got this when my baby was 3 months old and she enjoyed just looking at the animals. Then she started to kick and wave and enjoyed seeing the animals swing. Then, all thanks to this toy, she learned to grab the animals and could really shake the whole gym. In each of these stages she stayed amused for quite a while. She stopped being content under the animals when she learned to roll around, because she often would roll into a corner of the mat and couldn't get around the bar. But even at 9 months she still enjoys it every now and then, for shorter periods. The mirror, music, and lights helped prolong the dreaded tummy time. Watching each of 3 flowers light up in sequence distracted her. And she still enjoys the music and plays w/ the off/on switch, (pushing the mat to activate the musice isn't a concept she undertands, nor is it as interesting as the switch.) Batteries last for quite a while w/ moderate use--the set it came w/ lasted me 6 months. My one qualm is that the 10 continuous minutes of Mozart is the same song that has a very repetitive nature at that (I don't know what song it is but it's like an Invention/Canon/Variation for those that know--the same short melody, over and over in slightly different ways.) Regardless, I and my baby have enjoyed and appreciated this versatile and extensive toy and think that others will too. It's more affordable if you consider that this could truly be the only toy your baby plays w/ during the first 6 months, it was for mine (aside from "diaper bag"/travel toys that were gifts anyway.)
Customer Review: Great Playmat Summary: 4 Stars
We received this playmat as a gift in our first week home from the hospital. Being a new mom, and not knowing what all we would need, I didn't know how great this gift could be. I let it sit in the package for the first week when I finally decided to open it up. I put my son on it, and he LOVED it, at only 10 days old. He "danced" to the music by kicking his feet around, and was enchanted with the bright colors. He only lasted 10 minutes before fussing, but he loved it so much, I felt like I had been depriving him of stimulation by not using it sooner. He's now almost 4 months, and can go for 30-45 minutes on his mat with even more enthusiasm and interaction. We don't use a swing or bouncer seat, so this playmat is perfect when I need a moment with my hands free or to have the baby out of his Baby Bjorn carrier. It keeps him entertained alone for a minute until I can get on the floor and play on the mat with him.
I'd give this playmat 5 stars, except for one thing...the nursery tunes are useless because they only play for about 10 seconds. You have to switch it off, and turn it back on to get the next nursery tune, whereas the mozart setting plays continuously for about 10 minutes. I think the nursery tunes are supposed to be this way for when the child is older and can find the hidden places on the pad to press and restart the music, but at 4 months, I'm sick of hearing just the mozart music, and wish there was a little more variety, since he hasn't yet figured out the secret places to press in order to replay the music.
