after reading the wonderful reviews submitted by scores of people on these playmats...i went out and purchased one for my 3 1/2 month old----the first five minutes were great!!! it seemed as if we had gotten him heaven on a mat, but then, then came the crying. you see this is a wonderful toy for a baby who does not like to be held all the time. it is great if your infant is use to lying down and entertaining himself. my baby will play with the toys, sitting up---and since he's not old enough to sit yet by himself---guess who ends up having to play with him----??? so i have decided to now get him one of those stationary entertainers---let's see how that works.Customer Review: A Mommy from MA.

I bought this gym for my 2 month old son, now three months old, and he liked it from day one. It isn't the sort of toy that calms him when he is fussy but it definetly keeps him very entertained and active when he is in a playful mood. I enjoyed discovering the many "hidden" features of the hanging toys, and the windows of the ark on the matt. It was thoughtful how the hanging toys are aquatic creatures (like those that could survive the flood without the ark) and the ones on the matt are terrestial. My son however, mainly enjoys grabbing and tugging on the hanging toys for now but I see plenty of potential for this toy as he gets older as well.Customer Review: Some one's mommy

My almost 8 month old loves his, still. We've had it since he was 2 1/2 months old. He didn't care for it too much then, but quickly started batting at the toys. He has figured out how to take the toys off and we have been able to put other toys on the hangers as well. He has finally figured out, much to his joy, how to make the squeaky flap squeak and love the krinkly flap as well.
I do agree that it was overpriced. It was a gift so I guess I don't feel too bad. Several people stated that their mat faded after a few washes but I have washed mine several times without any problems. It may be the type of detergent they use.

We got this for our son after seeing the fun he had playing in a friend's. I work part- time and the baby comes with me, so this has been a great and portable source of safe entertainment for my 2 month old baby. He likes to look at the bright colors and hits/kicks the little characters to hear the rattles. The toys are easy to move around and lots more are available. It's also easy to clean, as I've had to do several times.* Even at 6 months he still loved his gym and it was so fun to see the changes in HOW he was playing. We even took this with us (packed in a suitcase) when we flew on vacation. Talk about portable!

This playmat is one of the best gifts the baby received! During the earlier months, he loved staring at the attachment toys, which encouraged him to reach & bat at things. Later, during tummy time, he discovered the crinkly pad and the bright colors on the mat, itself. We have also taken off the toys and attached them to his exersaucer, stroller, and carseat, for even portable fun. The rings that attached the toys to the gymini were also used to attach other toys with little loops. Therefore, we are still using the gymini (and different parts of it) at 7 months and will probably continue to do so. What a well-designed toy!
