I had a Fisher-Price version on these playmats which I gave 5 stars.

It was really great and colorful and came with a heap of hanging toys and a mirrored, music-playing dog.
After lending it to a friend and getting it back bent out of shape my hubby bought this one as a last minute xmas gift for our Baby #2. It was the only one in the store he had ducked into. It only has 3 hanging toys. Every other similar playmat has heaps of toys and most have music and lights as well. My main dislike of this one is that the arches are quite low, lower than the Fisher-Price one, so it seems like the toys are right in Baby's face. Other than those deficiencies, the mat is reasonably padded and the material is soft, not silky but soft enough. I would not recommend this to anyone but I do recommend the Fisher-Price one.

I put my infant down on this playmat from day one. I didn't really believe she'd enjoy it -- I just thought I'd try it. She loved it from day one. I also bought a Fisher Price Kick and Crawl Barn. The Gymini is far superior. The Gymini toys are soft and covered with patterns babies love. The Fisher Price toys are hard plastic. The first time my baby's hand hit that hard plastic, I put the "Barn" away. She loved the mirror on the Gymini first, and now she bats at all the toys. She's two and a half months old and we've used the Gymini EVERY DAY since she was born. It goes to grandma's house with her because she loves it so much. I also don't have to feel bad about not interacting with her when I put her down on the mat because it's such a good learning toy. Also, my friends have a 5 month old and she loves the mat too. If you're having a baby soon, do yourself a favor and get this toy!Customer Review: My Baby's Favorite Toy

I'm listening to my 4 month old son coo with joy right now as he plays in his gym. He really loves it and he is able to occupy himself for quite a long time when he's in the gym. The colors and the hanging toys really stimulate him. He wasn't interested in the gym till he was about 2 months old, but since then it's been his favorite. And I have enjoyed watching how he has developed from just staring at the hanging toys, to reaching out for them to batting them with his little fists. I've added additional toys to the rings to keep it interesting for him. The mat has become a permanent fixture on the living room floor and I feel comfortable laying him down on the mat while I work around him. When I pick him up and carry him around the room or sit with him in a chair, his eyes are always transfixed on the bold colors of the mat. I really find this to be an educational and fun toy for my baby.Customer Review: Good for young developing newborns!

I bought this for my daughter 9 years ago and now I am using it for my 2 month old son. The colors really get their attention. When I had bought it, I didn't think it came with enough links and toys, so I had bought additional links along with a clown rattle. Both my daughter and now my son enjoyed it. They would bat at the toys laying on their backs, and stare at themselves in the mirror. My son isn't old enough yet to do this, but my daughter, while on her stomach, would reach for the toys when I laid them out on the playmat. It may seem a little expensive, but is a good development toy for newborns. I can say though that the toy and its price has not changed at all in 9 years. So, with todays prices, it really isn't all that bad! I have the original packaging still, so it is still in the same condition it was 9 years ago. The only thing wrong with ours is the musical toy has quit working.Customer Review: Great item!

We registered for this gymini after reading all of the great reviews and hearing great things, and we were not disappointed! My daughter is now 6 months old and she STILL loves playing in this gym. Whether it's laying on her back playing with the little toys (especially the mirror) or rolling on her tummy and playing with her toys on the black and white mat, she loves this item! The high contrast (black, white, red) grabs her attention. She has used this for a full 6 months, and she is still enjoying it, so it is definitely worth the money. You can hang lots of different things from the bars, so baby never gets bored. My daughter also chews on the bars (great for teething). Also, the mat washes really well and does not fade. We even use the mat like a blanket to play on (just take the bars off). I think this is my daughter's most favorite toy (and we have lots)! I definitely recommend it.
