Customer Review: Fun at any age level!!

I got this as a shower gift and after my son was born he used it often. He loved to play with (& chew) the toys. The music mechanism is hard for a baby to operate, but as long as I could do it for him that is all that matters! Once he started sitting he would pull himself up with the arches (they were suprisingly strong) and when he started standing and walking he would use the arches to lean on as a game! Even at 10 months (the age that this item states that it goes to) I threw a blanket over 3 of the 4 sides and used the clips to clip the blanket (so it stayed open on that one side) and he loved using it as a tent. The only reason we dont use it now is because daddy bought him a really big tent!

From the moment I placed my daughter on this playmat, she was mesmerized by the colors and immediately started batting at the toys, practicing grasping them in her little hands, and using her feet to push the toys within reach. I have really noticed a rapid improvement in her motor skills since purchasing this item.
At 3 1/2 months old, she'll happily play in this gym for 20-30 minutes at a time, which is miraculous! The only reason I give it 4 stars is that for $40 I think it should come with more toys (includes 3, and my daughter only plays with 2 of them). But considering the fact that other similar gyms cost $50+, this is still a pretty good value. Overall we're very happy with it!

This is a great toy. My son has used it from about 1.5 months to present (6 months). He has gone from simply observing the interesting shapes and colors overhead to tearing them down to get a better look. This has given me a lot of time to get stuff done (like dishes) because I can lay him near where I can watch and talk to him and it keeps him entertained for a while. Now, that he is older, he does a lot of floor work on it (turning, push-ups etc.) I did buy additional toys to switch out to maintain interest, it is always good to have these because you can switch them from this toy, to others, or play with them on their own. The mat is washable, which is great. I would say this is a must have.Customer Review: Yes, it's for a newborn!

I am surprised at reviewers who say that this toy fails to capture a 12-month-old attention. This toy is designed specifically to appeal to the underdeveloped vision of a newborn. It is amazing how well it holds a tiny baby's focus the first day from the hospital while the good-old tried-and-true primary colors fail to do so. We now know that it is easiest for them to see black, white and red. I was astonished and how much calmer my baby was in this gym than anywhere else. He didn't start enjoying other similar environments (playgyms, swings, mats, etc) until he was close to four months! Later we took the toys off the bars and he enjoyed handling them. I'll buy another one for the next baby!
