Toys and Games Reviews of Tiny Love Gymini - Black, White and RedCustomer Review: Good Buy- Recommended Summary: 5 Stars
I really liked this purchase. Although, it took me a while to realize I liked it. The reason I purchased it in the beginning was because babies can initially see only black, white, and red. And the fact that contrasting colors stimulate their brains. Its one of those toys that my daughter used throughout her 10 months off and on for different reasons. Initially, I would put her in it so that she could be entertained while I put her on her back for some independent time. Subsequently, she discovered kicking and loved to kick the hanging toys. Then she started grabbing and wanted to bite the toys (I bought some extras to hang on there). What I did was I would wash the toys and let her bite them since she was teething and preferred those soft plush toys instead of the plastic teethers she had.. now, I have moved the coffee table temporarily into the garage and have a mini obstacle course in my living room and this toy is a part of it. She moves in and out of it onto the next station.. sometimes she lingers and kicks and grabs some more.. also, since she gets really squirmy and wants to roll over on her tummy when i change her diaper, i change her diaper while she is under the play gym so she is entertained and i can do my job. All in all, I found it withstood the test of time. Although some days she was more interested in it than others.. and I have a VERY picky child that likes nothing less than the remote control and the phone.. Anyways, I think its a good value for what you are getting and I recommend this.
Customer Review: A must have baby accessory Summary: 5 Stars
I love that this toy is black, white and red. The colors are great for little minds, in fact, that is what first attracted me to this toy. After I got it, I was so glad that I decided to get it. My play gymini is being used for a second time...we have a new baby and I still like this gym better than any other brand on the market right now. I think its design is far superior to other models I have seen. It is great! So durable, and the babies love to look at the toys and stare at the black and white stripes and polk-a-dots. The toys are soft and safe. The musical toy does need an adult to press it for the music to start. The arches are attatched at the top with a snap and then attatched to each corner with snaps. The snap at the top of the arch can be unsnapped quickly so that the arches fold down and lay flat on the floor or all the snaps can be unsnapped and the arches will actually come off of the mat altogethere. So, with the arches folded down or detatched, the mat can be used for diaper changes or a sleeping mat etc. You always have a clean, soft place to lay baby when you are out at grandma's or wherever. The toy is very easy to take along for travel, just fold it up and go. Oh, and the mat washes up easily...Just unsnap the arches and throw it in the washing machine. You can also purchase other toys to dangle from the arches and you can purchase extra hanging rings which allow you to extend the toys as low as you want...however, I like the toys just as they are.

::Updated::
Now that my son is 5 months old, he does seem more interested in this item. He watches and "talks to" the patterns on the mat and plays and pulls at the toys above. The only thing that worries me, is he is pulling himself up off the ground with the toys and then letting go and crashing into the floor. So you might want to put a folded comforter underneath for cushion when your little one is strong enough to pull himself up.
The bottom comes off easily for the spit up and drools that seem to come up so often. You just unbutton it, throw it into the wash, then the dryer and that's that. Very easy to care for.
I still think it's pricey, but the baby likes it.
I got this as a gift at my shower. My son isn't really interested in it, then again he may be too small for it too. I use it to lay him on as a change of venue when he gets bored or wants some tummy time.
There are only 3 toys on it, and I wouldn't spend the $11 on the other three. Is the toy with the music notes on it supposed to sing or something? I feel something in there when I squeeze it, but it doesn't do anything.
To be honest, I think this item is pretty pricey for what it is. I do appreciate the gift though. It does wash and store well - so that's a bonus. I guess we'll see what he thinks of it in a couple months.
Customer Review: There's only one problem with it... Summary: 4 Stars
The toy that plays music only plays for a very short period, and then my 3 month old daughter (who loves music) starts complaining. Sometimes we have to sit next to her and keep squeezing the toy to keep playing the music.Other than that, she loves the toy. If we don't start playing the music from the start, she'll just sit there and stare and the stripes and dots. She was interested in looking at the patterns from very early on, but now she's getting older, we can leave her on the playmat for longer and longer periods of time. This week we just realized she can move around wiggling her body trying to touch and kick the toys. She just gets so happy, and next thing you know, she's off the playmat and on the floor, which is really cute. I was amazed to see her move around like that, and I think this toy helped her start developing some coordination with her body. She has already been trying to grab the toys too. I really like that it's lightweight and easy to carry around from room to room. And when we have company over, we can easily fold everything up, stick it in the plastic bag it came with and just stick it in her closet. We're even thinking about taking in our suitcase on our plane trip, since it folds so easily! We love this playmat, and it's one of the cheapest ones. I just wish there was more music...
Customer Review: Awesome 6 yrs. strong Summary: 5 Stars
I am on my third child and I am a little disgusted with the less than 5 star reviews. My son is six and this has been around since he was born and possibly even before. This came out when all the books and doctors were stuck on black and white for the brain, and especially hand-eye coordination. Let me tell you, it's all true! This mat is so stimulating for an infant and even young toddler that if your baby has any attention span whatsoever, he/she will benefit completely from the black/white contrast. The music is just a plus and if people were educated a little more, they would realize you can add more hanging toys or even take a little time out of their important schedule to just lay down with their baby and play. It is not meant to be a full time babysitter, so you should not be disappointed with the amount of time your baby plays on the mat. Because needless to say, if you have even a somewhat intelligent and content child, you should have no problem leaving him there to play. This gym is very educational and it is proven with the first few short years(especially the first) that the contrast and toys offered with this gym is the most learning experience your baby could possibly have.
