Toys and Games Reviews of ThinkFun ZingoCustomer Review: My 3 yr old Granddaughter loves this game. Summary: 5 Stars
During my last visit with my Son and family, I sat down to play this game with my 3 1/2 yr old granddaughter. Wow, She loved it. Of course part of the fun was the cheering when we got close to getting our cards filled, then yelling ZINGO when the last piece was placed. She loaded the tabs in the dispenser without any help. She worked the dispenser and put the tabs on the cards herself. It was easy to match the picture on the plastic tabs to the cards. I found out she is a very good sport - when I was losing quite a bit, she said "Don't worry grandma, I can fix it". When her winning piece was drawn, I saw her put it behind her back and kept drawing until my card was full. Then she put her winning tab on her card and yelled " See, we both have ZINGO at the same time!!!"
Like any game, don't except to put it in front of a child without someone to share in the playing. It is a 2 person game. I found it was a very relaxing game to play with her because she did everything! I have pictures of us playing and I will always remember her yelling ZINGO.
Customer Review: Works for a broad range of ages--I would buy it again Summary: 4 Stars
I am 35, my DH is 28, and my kids are aged 5 years and 2 years (29) months. We got this game around Christmas (a couple of months ago) and it has been a hit ever since. The baby is not good at shouting for the zingo pieces by name, or yelling Zingo! but she grabs the pieces she needs and if her board is filled first we prompt her to say Zingo! and give her the win. We all really like this game, but the kids can also play it by themselves. The only drawback is the pieces--they are easily lost if you are not vigilant about watching the kids with them. This was worth the money spent. Other games the baby can play (with little guidance or assistance): Hiss, Uno Moo, and Brown Bear, Brown Bear. My son could play Memory at her age, so we assumed that she would be able to as well (she hit all of her milestones before he did), but she wasn't ready for it (even playing with only half the tiles) so we will wait to reintroduce that game when she is 3 years old. I am thinking of trying the Curious George Beach Discovery game next...
Customer Review: Great game! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great game my son has had for two years now. He's now 5 and a half. I've given it as gifts several times, and have always heard back from the recipients. Something that doesn't always happen. It's fun for everyone who plays. It's easy to play and easy to learn. There's no reading required, which is great. It's not hard to pull out or put away. And, may I say, the box is DURABLE. As many times as we've pulled this game out and taken it camping and traveling, the box looks brand new. I'm sorry, but that's kind of important to me. I have other games that the boxes are so trashed, I almost want to just buy a whole new game because it annoys me so much, and I guarantee you they've been played half as much as this has. It's a great find, and something I would have never heard of if I hadn't come across it here on Amazon. I will say, the price fluctuates A LOT, so do some smart price watching on it buy adding it to your cart, and catch in on a price drop. You can find it in stores too, but it's usually cheaper here.
Customer Review: My kid is a Zingo addict! Summary: 5 Stars
My son received this as a gift when he was 3. He had tried other "board games", but could not keep interest for more than 5 min.
He LOVES this game even now at 4 1/2.
What I like:
-Board only has 9 spaces so the game doesn't have to last a life time.
-You can use the yellow side for a less competitive game or the red side when your kid gets a little older. (From what I can tell if you use the red each player has a better chance of both needing the same zingo piece and it becomes an exciting chase to see who can pick up the piece first)
-All pieces are virtually indesctructable. The zingo dispensor is extremely heavy duty and slides smooth. (very good for easily frustrated toddlers!!)
What I don't like:
-My kid wants to play ALL the time. We had to hide it when we moved for a month so that we could take a break.
Since this "dislike" is a fault with the parents I give it a 5 star rating :)
Customer Review: A must for any preschooler Summary: 5 Stars
We were introduced to Zingo by one of my daughter's friends. My daughter instantly loved this game. Sliding out the Zingo tiles through the Zinger is fun for the kids and I am always amazed at how fast their reaction times are in recognizing the tiles that they need. We didn't read the instructions at first and didn't realize that the yellow side was less competitive (i.e. fewer conflicting tiles per player) as sometimes our daughter would get frustrated because someone would take "her" tile - but I guess that teaches her the value of taking turns and being a gracious loser ... (I wish!) It helps to play the yellow side to reduce frustration by the younger players.
The game doesn't take too long, so the kids don't lose patience and it is fast paced and easy to clean up. The box says ages 4 and up, but I have bought this for so many birthdays for 3 year olds and they all love it. It is a great and unique gift idea for any preschooler.
